Gosh... and to think that over 50 years ago my teachers taught me that in
Communist countries children were encouraged to report their parents to the
police. Now children in our own country are actually being encouraged to
report their parents.
"First lady Michelle Obama is encouraging students to monitor their olderrelatives, friends and co-workers for any racially insensitive comments theymight make, and to challenge those comments whenever they're made."Lately many columnists have been expressing surprise lately that young
"The first lady spoke on Friday to graduating high school students inTopeka, Kansas, and in remarks released over the weekend, Obama saidstudents need to police family and friends because federal laws can only goso far in stopping racism."
"[O]ur laws may no longer separate us based on our skin color, but nothingin the Constitution says we have to eat together in the lunchroom, or livetogether in the same neighborhoods," she said. "There's no court caseagainst believing in stereotypes or thinking that certain kinds of hatefuljokes or comments are funny."
people of the "millennial" generation are unable to accept criticism and
correction in the workplace. However, this should come as no surprise.
Particularly since these young people have been taught in school that their
elders and superiors are all grumpy, bigoted dunces who need to be
re-educated in politically correct speech and decorum. Would you accept a
rebuke from someone you were taught to regard as stupid and evil?
