"Those arrested are believed to belong to three clans based near Milan but affiliated with the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta, an organised crime group made up of networks of hundreds of family gangs even more feared and secretive than the Sicilian Mafia."
FYI: Calabria is the province in the "toe" of the Italian boot. The 'Ndrangheta (AKA Calabrian Mafia) is even active in Canada. For more info on 'Ndrangheta activities in Toronto, Canada read the book "Enforcer", the
story of  a Canadian biker gang member who worked for the Calabrian Mafia. He turned Crown's evidence when he suspected his 'Ndrangheta bosses intended to kill him.
