According to Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta, it’s an “understatement” that Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, is “not smart.”
Podesta’s comments were revealed by WikiLeaks, which recently published a 2012 email conversation between Podesta and Clinton operative Doug Band.
Band wrote to Podesta in Jan. 2012 to complain about Chelsea, who he alleged told “one of the Bush 43 kids” about an internal financial investigation within the Clinton Foundation. That information then made its way to a Republican operative, Band said.
“I have heard more and more chatter of [Chelsea] and bari talking about lots of what is going on internally to people,” Band wrote. “Not smart.”
Podesta replied with just one sentence. He wrote back to Band:
“You are perfecting your skills for understatement.”
The email was sent during the time Chelsea worked as a correspondent for NBC News, where she earned an annual salary of $600,000.
