Funny Article. Very illuminating as well. The Scandinavian countries have largely achieved the goal of making everyone “equal” and “average”, but the irony is that even American urban Liberals would find such an equal society as exists in those countries to be as dull as a spoon.
Plus the Liberals / Leftists miss the obvious, that what would work in an ethnically and culturally homogenous society, such as the Scandinavian countries all have, would definitely not work in an ethnically and culturally diverse (and getting more diverse by the minute) society as exists in the United States of America.
If America transitioned to a Scandinavian style welfare state, we Americans would end up forever squabbling over how big a share of the “pie” of government largess each group gets AND who pays for it. Which is what we are doing already.
SOCIALISM VERSUS RACISM EXPLAINED:
A young black kid asked his mother, mama what's Socialism and what's Racism? "Well son, Socialism is when white folks work every day so we can get all our benefits. You know, like free cell phones for each family member, rent subsidy, food stamps, EMC, free healthcare, utility subsidy, free computers and Internet connection, free food, free clothing, free gifts at Christmas, and on and on, you know? That's Socialism".
"But mama, don't the white people get pissed off about that?"
"Sure they do son, that's called Racism!"
