Good point! What do people think it takes to handcuff and subdue a six foot three inch 300 to 400 pound man who is resisting arrest? I think it would be great fun to stage a contest on TV to see if any of our media pundits can show us how it’s done.
The fact is that the cop placed Eric Garner in a head lock not a choke hold. The fact that he could talk proved he wasn’t in a choke hold. Eric Garner died on the way to the hospital of a stress induced heart attack. This is not an uncommon occurrence when people in poor cardiovascular health, as Mr. Garner was, throw caution to the winds and engage in a physical altercation with anyone else. The real tragedy is that New York’s excessive tax collections on cigarettes set up this confrontation between the police tax enforcement task force and Mr. Garner. Like Rush says, big government ultimately is deadly government.
