Keep in mind that religious orders have always attracted a certain number of flawed, “sinful’” people who wanted to remove themselves from the temptations of the world and get right with the Lord. .
For example many penitents, including people from noble families, persuaded Saint Benedict to found a cloistered monastery in 7thCentury Italy so they could find forgiveness for their trespasses; then those same penitents tried to poison Benedict when they found the rules of his order to be too strict (God saved Benedict by sending a raven to snatch the poisoned food off his plate). Unfortunately once again its seems like too many of these sinners today can no longer restrain themselves, even after they have taken holy vows. Or is it that we just hear about such transgressions more thanks to mass media? One that enjoys embarrassing and discrediting organized religion at that. Or is it just a case of very elderly people suffering from dementia and no longer able to control their impulses? Keep in mind that we have lot more real old people over 75 in our society than we had just a few decades ago. Probably all of the above.

BRIAR CREEK — State police in Columbia County say they nabbed a very unlikely thief: a nun. Troopers tracked the nun at her convent in Danville after she allegedly shoplifted from a store.
