The epidemic of teachers molesting students seems to be broadening, dwarfing the media-sensationalized epidemic of Catholic priests molesting little boys.
• In Choctaw, Oklahoma 26-year-old Victoria Lucus was taken into custody for lewd or indecent acts with a child under 16. Reports say the teacher conducted an inappropriate relationship with a male student for about five months. The teacher and student exchanged photos, the report said, and she allegedly touched the victim's genitals while driving him home from school.
• In Lynchburg, Virginia Amelia Tat, 26, was arrested for alleged sexual activity with a male student while she was teaching science at a middle school.
• In East Irondequoit, New York Jennifer Kennard, 49, was convicted of raping a 13-year-old boy. Kennard was employed as a teacher's aide when she had sex with the victim.
Each week scores of teachers are reported arrested for sexual misconduct with students. Those, of course, don't include many other who get away with their crimes.
