Too much has changed in society so there is no going back. There could only be a draft again in the USA if the Democrat Party wanted it. Then the Media would totally support the idea. The funny thing is that all of the Liberals I have had occasion to speak with on the subject over the years were all for compulsory public service, they were just against compulsory military service. But like the sergeant told the Liberal woman who expressed the fear that George W. Bush might draft her son, ”Don’t worry Lady, we’ll draft the Girl Scouts before we draft your sissy boy!”
