He kept saying “shoot me”, so the other guy did.

The investigation into the death of a 23-year-old man involved in a domestic disturbance during the weekend showed he was killed by a neighbor attempting to protect the deceased man’s common-law wife, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
Angelo Cassius Cazarez was shot and killed after he became involved in a domestic disturbance at the Pecan Ridge Apartments, 2736 Lake Shore Drive, about 12:15 a.m. Sunday.
Police were called to the apartment complex after Cazarez’s common-law wife reported that he had threatened her with two knives.
Cazarez allegedly physically assaulted a person who was trying to help the woman in the parking lot of the complex. Swanton said Cazarez assaulted the person who was trying to help but allowed the woman to escape the area.
The woman ran and knocked on several apartment doors trying to get someone to call police, Swanton said. A neighbor answered the door and helped the woman, he said.
Swanton said that person, who was not identified, came out of the apartment with a handgun after the woman said that her common-law husband was armed with knives. Cazarez spotted his common-law wife and started to move toward her, Swanton said.
“The individual who came to the common-law wife’s aid told the suspect Cazarez numerous times to stop,” Swanton said in a statement. “Cazarez continued at the individual and the common-law wife in a threatening manner and refused commands to stop. Cazarez was telling the individual to shoot him.”
After repeated verbal warnings, Cazarez failed to stop moving at the woman, Swanton said. Because of Cazarez’s “hostile actions toward them,” the neighbor shot to protect both of them as both “were in fear of their lives,” Swanton said.
Police detained several people at the apartment complex and took statements. Swanton said no one was arrested at the time of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
