Interesting case of a brazen home invader who ignored the homeowner’s commands to cease and desist in his efforts to break down the door. Was the intruder on dope perhaps? Seems likely. Keep in mind that as self-defense law expert Massad Ayoob advises when faced with a credible and imminent lethal threat to your person or that of your loved ones you are not obligated to give a verbal warning before you shoot. In this case , especially since the intruder was still outside the dwelling and not necessarily an imminent threat until he was about to enter, it was good that the homeowner gave multiple verbal warnings, and contacted 911 as well, before shooting. For some reason authorities sometimes get all bothered when some miscreant who was terrorizing good people gets killed. A life cut short at 42. Who knows but with the life history the intruder probably had behind him he might have discovered the cure for MS or cancer had he lived.

The elderly couple were in their San Antonio, TX home around 10 a.m. on Thursday when an unknown individual began attempting to break in.
After an elderly homeowner in his late 70’s was forced to open fire on a home intruder last week, authorities say he will not face any charges stemming from the shooting.
The homeowner and his wife, who is in her late 60’s, were in their San Antonio, TX home on Autumn Dew Drive around 10 a.m. on Thursday when an unknown individual began attempting to break in.
“They were giving the individual who was trying to break into the house commands to stop,” said Doug Greene, SAPD spokesperson.
Greene said they called 9-1-1 and told dispatchers he was armed and ready to defend himself if police could not get to the home in time. The elderly man continued to command the home intruder to stop trying to break into the couple’s home, but the man continued to force his way in, eventually braking the couple’s the door handle.
At that point, the homeowner fired his gun at the intruder through the door.
The suspect, identified by police as 42-year-old Troy Dell Wilson, was struck in the chest.
Although EMS attempted to save Wilson’s life, Green said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Greene commended the homeowner on his response to the situation — first calling police, informing authorities he had a gun in his home and then making attempts to stave the would-be intruder’s attempts to enter his home.
