Actually I thought his joke about Caitlin Jenner giving women drivers a bad name was pretty funny. But I do think the Pope ought to issue a fatwa against Gervais for slandering the Catholic Church. I mean if we are to believe that both Roman Catholicism and Islam are legitimate paths to God’s salvation why shouldn’t Catholics react to insults to their religion the same way Muslims do? Why do Muslims get rewarded with direct flight to heaven and 73 virgin concubines for defending their faith? Why can’t Catholics get a deal like that? At least Russian Orthodox Christianity is willing to fight to defend its faithful from persecution.
NBC (“the only network with zero nominations") had to know things would be bad when they asked Ricky Gervais to host the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards for the fourth time, but did they know it would be THAT awful? Gervais literally started the show with the words, “Shut up, you disgusting, pill-popping, sexual-deviant scum” – and it only went downhill from there.
