BLUE MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) – A former north Texas police officer is in the fight of his life, now must bury his wife after suffering from a debilitating virus.
Truman Bradshaw was an officer in Blue Mound when a suspect bit him during a scuffle, which later developed into Hepatitis C. After assurances that he could not pass it to his wife from doctors, his wife did indeed get the virus. Bradshaw says even though he was dealing with his own fight with the virus, it was hard watching his wife suffer.
“She was unable to get a liver transplant because of her aggressive Hep C and ended up being a diabetic![http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/lb_icon1.png]()
. She had kidney disease as well and was on dialysis. This past Friday night she passed away,” said Bradshaw.
He said a life insurance policy was impossible because both had the Hepatitis C virus. “We were both were on a fixed income and had about $13 after we had paid our bills![http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png]()
for the month. I am going to have to be moving and take a drastic step downwards,” said Bradshaw, who’s asking for help paying for the funeral his wife so deserves.
“The worst part about all this, is I will have to go on without my wife. The personal items don’t make a difference to me but my wife is gone,” said Bradshaw tearfully.
