I have too much to do today to properly tell you all about how remittances (money sent by immigrants out of the US economy) are used to prop up economies around the world.
Trump’s wall is doable! http:// theconservativetreehouse.com/ 2016/02/18/cnn-runs-segment- on-trump-wall-being-very- doable-we-explain-how-mexico- pays/
And, no time to tell you about how terrorism is funded with some of that money, or that many of those dollars are taxpayer dollars you contributed to legal and illegal migrants through your welfare ‘charity.’
Or, how many of those dollars were stolen from the Food Stamp program.
Remittances are the reason the ‘temporary protective status’ never goes away for certain categories of immigrant in the US.
And, the dream of remittances sent back to Central America is why those countries don’t curtail the flight of tens of thousands of their youths to the American border. (spike coming!) ‘Leaders’ there assume the kids will send money ‘home.’
Maryland Rep. admitted in 2013 debate on ‘Gang of Eight’ bill: “money is a principal driver of the foreign governments’ interest in immigration reform.” http://thehill.com/policy/ international/281605-foreign- governments-lobby-hard-in- favor-of-immigration-reform
I’ve written a good bit over the years about the remittance game and how it is a major driver of immigration to America. See posts here at RRW.
This is what the Washington Post said yesterday about the Trump plan (it even brought Obama to the podium to chastise Trump).
Suffice it to say, I am happy the issue has been so publicly mentioned because I don’t think most Americans understand how many billions of dollars leave the US every year through remittances and how that is a major reason migrants come here (to send money ‘home,’ not because they want necessarily to be American citizens!).
WASHINGTON — Donald Trump would try to force Mexico to pay for a border wall by targeting billions of dollars in remittances sent by immigrants living in the U.S., according to a memo released by his campaign Tuesday.
The memo outlines in new detail how Trump would try to compel Mexico to pay for the 1,000-mile wall he’s promised to build along the Southern border if he becomes president.
In his proposal, Trump threatened to change a rule under the USA Patriot Act, an anti-terrorism law, to cut off a portion of the funds sent to Mexico through money transfers known as remittances. His plan would also bar non-Americans from wiring money outside of the U.S. unless they can provide documentation establishing their legal status in the country.
Trump said he would withdraw the threat if Mexico makes a one-time payment to finance the wall.
“It’s an easy decision for Mexico: make a one-time payment of $5-10 billion to ensure that $24 billion continues to flow into their country year after year,” the memo reads.
By the way, the Dems are quick to tell us that food stamp dollars and other welfare payments to indigent immigrants fuels the US economy as those dollars return via goods and services purchased.
Isn’t it time we find out exactly how our tax dollars prop up third world nations through uncontrolled movement of those dollars out of the country?
The Republicans who are running the House and Senate should be investigating the loss to the US economy of the billions leaving the country via remittances, wall or no wall (Trump or no Trump!). So, where have they been?
