Panel advocates return of an armored brigade to Europe

STUTTGART, Germany — Just four years after the Defense Department decided to inactivate two of Europe’s four brigades, a review panel has recommended that the Army return an armored brigade to Europe along with a war-fighting aviation headquarters to counter a more aggressive Russia.

The conclusion from a yearlong review of Army readiness by a congressionally mandated panel illustrates how dramatically the security situation in Europe has changed in the past two years, with perceptions of Russia changing from potential ally to potential adversary.

The National Commission on the Future of the Army released its findings Thursday in a nearly 200-page report that offered a series of recommendations on the size and shape of the Army in the years ahead.

In the case of Europe, the commission argued that more permanent forces are needed on the Continent, where Army presence now stands at roughly 28,000 troops.

“The changing security environment in Europe, its value as a stationing location for potential contingencies in the Middle East, and the relatively lengthy timelines associated with deploying an (armored brigade) suggest the need to return to permanent stationing of this asset in the region,” the commission concluded. “Based on its review, the commission believes this adjustment would require minimal additional staffing.”

In addition, the Army should convert U.S. Army Europe’s administrative aviation headquarters to a “war-fighting mission command element” similar to a combat aviation brigade headquarters.

While a heavier reliance on rotational aviation combat units in Europe makes sense, the current administrative aviation headquarters is “not sufficiently robust to accomplish this task at acceptable risk,” said the commission, headed by retired Army Gen. Carter Ham.

The commission’s findings are a sign of how much the military mission in Europe has changed in the wake of Russia’s 2014 intervention in Ukraine and Moscow’s more assertive military posture along NATO’s eastern and southern flanks.

In 2013, the Army’s last battle tanks were removed from Europe, and the second of two heavy brigades was inactivated as part of a steady drawdown of the force that has left the Army with only two light brigades — the 173rd Airborne out of Vicenza, Italy, and the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck, Germany.

As the U.S. has bolstered its presence in eastern Europe, with new missions across the Baltics as part of an effort to reassure allies and deter Russia, the Army has relied heavily on rotational forces from the U.S. to replenish a depleted Europe-based force. The Army has also brought back 250 tanks and other heavy vehicles, which are pre-positioned in warehouses around Europe.

But a U.S. European Command strategy issued Tuesday cautions against an overreliance on rotational forces.

“The temporary presence of rotational forces complements, but does not substitute for an enduring forward deployed presence that is tangible and real,” the EUCOM strategy said. “Virtual presence means actual absence.”

For months, top American military commanders have been sounding the alarm about Russia’s military buildup in recent years. A chief concern is Russia’s capability to deny access into numerous strategic locations, such as the Baltics, a region where Russia maintains a sizable military presence. In addition, the Russian navy has become more active in the Mediterranean.

Other areas of concern in Europe are the downsizing of headquarters staff at USAREUR, which has left the Army without an operational command post and the military potentially exposed in a crisis. The deployment of a rotational command element from the 4th Infantry Division provides “a temporary, albeit nonsustainable, solution,” the commission report said.

The commission also lamented the lack of short-range air defense battalions within the regular Army, a capability that could be useful in “high-threat areas in northeast Asia, southwest Asia, eastern Europe or the Baltics.”

In the case of the Army, a permanently stationed armored bridge would send a signal to allies and adversaries, the Army commission said.

“The possibility of forceful response options in Europe must be considered,” the report said. “The value of armored forces for conducting major combat operations adds to their value for deterring aggression. Such forces take significant time to prepare and resources to sustain. However, underestimating the armored force requirements increases risk to mission.”

Blog: Muslim Uber driver allegedly slammed passenger’s service dog to pavement, injuring it

The Muslims are proving to be ungracious guests. If you have a lot of Muslims around you can’t have anything they dislike. Such as pet dogs.

I find it very difficult to celebrate the diversity that Muslims bring to the United States on the matter of dogs. Muslims are taught to hate them. Not in the Koran, but in the Hadith and other sources, as I wrote about here:

Abd Allah B. Mughaffal reported the apostle of Allah as saying: Were dogs not a species of creature I should command that they all be killed; but kill every pure black one.

The Hadith's note for #2839 says, "The prophet did not order the killing of all the dogs, for some are to be retained for hunting and watching. He ordered to kill the jet black ones. They might be more mischievous among them.

Abu Zubair heard Jabir Abdullah saying: Allah's messenger ordered us to kill dogs and we carried out this order so much so that we also killed the dog roaming with a women from the desert. Then Allah's apostle forbade their killing. He said: "It is your duty to kill the jet-black (dog) having two spots (on the eyes) for it is a devil.

You see, Mohammed was a thief, a caravan raider (but it was okay because they were infidels), and dogs guard against thieves in the night.  As a result, man’s best friend is anathema to many Muslims, and this can result in problems when they apply this belief in roles involving contact with the public, especially as drivers of passenger carrying vehicles.  Carol Brown collected a series of such incidents here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here
The latest such alleged incident has a particularly nasty turn. Via Pamela Geller and iOTW Report, we learn from Maya Rajanami of DNA Info:

An Uber driver viciously slammed a passenger’s service dog onto the ground after telling her she couldn’t have the pooch in his car — leaving the animal with a dislocated hip and an injured knee that required surgery, police said.

The 30-year-old Manhattan resident had gotten into the cab with her Silky Terrier in front of 1755 Broadway, near West 56th Street, on Jan. 21 around 7:30 p.m., the NYPD said.

When driver Muhammad Qayyum, 23, saw the pup, he told her, “I will not take your dog in my car,” police said.

After Qayyum, from Queens, refused to drive the woman and her pooch, he got out of the car, went to the right back passenger seat and grabbed the dog’s leash from the woman’s hand, the NYPD said.

Qayyum used the leash to yank the dog out of her lap and threw the animal to the ground, according to a complaint filed with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

Qayyaum has denied all the charges.  Oh, and (surprise!) he is charging racism:

The driver claimed that after the woman refused to show documents proving the terrier was a service animal, she made “racist, religiously disparaging slurs” and punched him in the face several times, the spokeswoman explained.

Uber requires drivers to carry service animals. It is also investigating the incident.

For some reason, in the wake of 9-11, the United States has been importing Muslims at an unprecedented rate. There are those who celebrate the diversity they bring. But I doubt that many dogs do.

14 Calif. high schoolers suspended for going to racist party

Who says these are negative stereotypes? The people that the students were mimicking are fabulously wealthy in many cases. Certainly the behavior portrayed is considered hip and cool in many social circles, particularly among black people themselves. So dressing up like Donald Trump would be OK, but dressing up like Jay-Zee, another multi-millionaire, would not be acceptable? Did the critics stop to consider that perhaps the white students were in fact emulating people they saw as popular and successful? After all young whites are brought up to admire material success and to be racially color blind.  Who made the critics the arbiters of right and wrong?

San Francisco Catholic School Students Suspended Over 'Wigger" Themed Party

Fourteen students at a mostly white Catholic high school in San Francisco have been suspended for attending a racist-themed “wigger” kegger, attended by up to 100 high school students in the Bay area.

The students were suspended from the prestigious St. Ignatius College Preparatory after outraged fellow students saw Instagram photos from the Jan. 23 party showing their classmates dressed in offensive costumes emulating negative black stereotypes.

“Wigger,” is a mashup of “white” and the offensive racial slur it sounds like and refers to white people who appropriate black culture.

“It’s so contradictory to who we are and who we want to be,” the school’s principal, Patrick Ruff, told KRON News about his decision to suspend the students.

The high school kegger was attended by up to 100 people from roughly 5 area high schools at Stern Grove, large city park, according to CBS News.

Fourteen students from St. Ignatius College Preparatory school in San Francisco were suspended after they posted Instagram photos of themselves at a racist-themed party on Jan. 23.

The suspended students flashed gang signs, held Bud Light tall-boys and wore shirts that said "Thug Life" on them in the incriminating Instagram photos they posted of themselves at the party.

In recent years, racist themed parties have stirred up controversy all over the country, including a Kanye West-themed UCLA partyin October 2015 attended by white students who dressed up like Yeezy and his reality star wife, Kim Kardashian.

The party sparked protests on the Los Angeles campus.

While students from other high schools attended the Bay area “wigger” party, St. Ignatius is the only school so far that has disciplined students who attended.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory school in San Francisco, Calif suspended 14 of its students after they saw photos on social media of them attending a racist themed party. 

“Over the years, we have done much work in the area of diversity through the school’s Office of Equity and Inclusion, which is an integral part of our school community. Clearly, however, we have more work ahead of us in forming adolescents to be their best selves,” read a statement on the St. Ignatius website.

Students hope that the school can learn something from the suspensions and move on.

“I do forgive them and at the end of the day it’s a learning lesson for all of us,” student Joseph Lofton told ABC News.

Better Get Used To It: The Ferguson Effect is Real

Despite a steep rise in crime, arrests in L.A. were down nearly 10 percent in 2015.

Back in November 2010 I reported in this space on the murder of Aaron Shannon Jr., who at age 5 was shot and killed in his South Los Angeles backyard. Such a killing is horrific under any circumstances, but it was all the more so in that it happened on the afternoon of Halloween, and that Aaron was wearing his Spider-Man costume in joyful anticipation of trick-or-treating that evening. Compounding the horror even further was the motive for the crime: retaliation against a street gang to which neither little Aaron nor anyone in his family had any affiliation. Aaron’s death was given some media attention, but to judge from the level of public outcry, his life was held as less valuable and his death as less tragic than that of Oscar Grant, the young black man who in the early hours of New Year’s Day in 2009 was shot and killed in Oakland, Calif., by an officer with the Bay Area Rapid Transit Police Department.

Grant’s death at the hands of the police led to days of rioting in Oakland, scenes that were repeated in July 2010 when the officer was convicted of involuntary manslaughter rather than murder as the mob would have wished. On the day after the officer was sentenced, a vigil was held in front of a South L.A. police station, which I described near the conclusion of that earlier column:

On Nov. 6, [2010] a candlelight vigil was held at the LAPD’s 77th Street police station in memory of Aaron. Less than a hundred people attended, judging from the brief video report shown on the local news. There was no screaming, no hysterics, not even calls for vengeance against the two men accused of killing Aaron. And there most certainly was no mob rushing off to the nearest Foot Locker store to help themselves to the latest models from Nike. And if the two men accused of murdering Aaron somehow manage to beat the case or bargain for a reduced sentence, that too will be greeted not with outrage but rather with sad resignation.

And now the time for sad resignation has come. Though one of the two men accused in Aaron’s murder was found guilty and sentenced to 128 years to life in prison – this after two hung juries – the second was recently sentenced to just 25 years for his role in the crime. I don’t bring this up as a criticism of the prosecutors who handled the case or the detectives who investigated it. By the standards of gang crime in Los Angeles, where witnesses are often reluctant to testify out of fear of the gangs, this was a satisfactory outcome: two men involved, both sent to prison, albeit one of them for less time than would seem appropriate. The sad resignation comes from the realization that the incarceration of Aaron’s two killers won’t matter much to the quality of life in the area of Los Angeles where the little boy lived out his abbreviated life. The Los Angeles Times informs us that the Florence neighborhood, with 83.5 incidents per 10,000 residents, is currently 13^th in violent crime on the paper’s list of more than 260 neighborhoods in L.A. County. Ignobly heading that list is Chesterfield Square, a neighborhood whose stately name suggests placid, tree-lined streets. Some of the streets may be tree-lined, but the neighborhood is anything but placid: the violent crime rate there is 139.4.

Crime numbers such as these prompt the question: What’s to be done about it? And this is where we return to sad resignation, for the answer is, not enough. Both the neighborhoods mentioned above are patrolled by officers from the LAPD’s 77^th Street Division, one of 21 patrol stations in the city. Year in and year out, 77^th Street is among the leaders in violent crime in Los Angeles, as reflected in the fact that six of the ten most violent neighborhoods in the county are within its borders. Seventy-seventh Street Division led the city in murders last year (as it does most years), and though the total of 53 was significantly less than the numbers seen in the late ’80 and early ‘90s, it was a 10 percent increase from the previous year, mirroring a similar rise in murders that occurred in the city as a whole. Overall violent crime in Los Angeles was up 20 percent in 2015, with robberies up by 12 percent and aggravated assaults up by 27 percent.

But despite this rise in crime, arrests in Los Angeles were down by almost 10 percent in 2015. Why? There is an ongoing effort in this country to deny the existence of the “Ferguson effect,” i.e., the increasing reluctance among police officers to subject themselves to the risks attendant to proactive policing (see here and here for but two examples). Darren Wilson, the officer who shot and killedMichael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., in August 2014, was demonstrated to have been fully justified in doing so, which was clear enough within hours of the incident. Despite this, he was driven from his job and vilified in the media. Even now, despite having been thoroughly debunked, there persists the myth that Michael Brown was shot in the back and/or with his hands raised in surrender.

In Los Angeles, two police officers are still awaiting a decision on whether they will be prosecuted in the August 2014 shooting death of Ezell Ford, who, when he tried to wrest an officer’s handgun from its holster, paid for it with his life. Though LAPD Chief Charlie Beck ruled the shooting to be “in policy,” i.e., justified under both the law and department guidelines, the civilian police commission – mayoral appointees without even a trace of expertise in policing – ruled the shooting to be “in policy” as to one officer, but “out of policy” as to the other, subjecting him to discipline or even termination.

And earlier this month, Beck made a grand show of recommending that an officer be prosecuted for shooting and killing an unarmed man near Venice Beach last May. Though such charges may in fact be warranted, the apparent relish with which the chief made his announcement left many in the department’s rank and file disheartened, widening the chasm that already existed between the chief and his officers. On Jan. 20, the leadership of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, the union for rank-and-file officers, held apress conference at which they criticized Beck for failing to take action against the recent rise in crime. Of particular concern to patrol officers is their dwindling numbers. As of last month there were 9,903 sworn officers on the department, yet more and more of them are being assigned to specialized units at the expense of patrol. In some stations around the city it is not uncommon to see only three or four units on the streets at some hours of the day, putting the officers who remain in patrol at risk in the event they need backup quickly.

Given this set of circumstances, it should come as no surprise that crime is rising in Los Angeles, as it is for similar reasons in a number of other cities. In Chicago, an officer is facing murder charges in the October 2014 death of Laquan McDonald, a black 17 year old who was high on PCP and running down a major street with a knife in his hand when an officer shot and killed him. Police dashboard camera video of the shooting was kept from public view for more than a year, but when it was finally released last November, prosecutors made the nakedly political decision to charge the officer in the hope that rioting could be averted. Protesters did disrupt traffic and shopping on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue, but there was no rioting of the sort seen in Ferguson after Michael Brown’s death. Murders were up in Chicago last year, and in the city’s current political climate there’s no reason to expect that trend to reverse in 2016.

And in Baltimore, where six police officers have been charged in the death of Freddie Gray, 2015 was the city’s deadliest year ever, with 344 homicides. Those who would deny the Ferguson effect call these homicide spikes coincidental, but my friend Heather Mac Donald has persuasively rebutted these denials in the Wall Street Journal and City Journal.

How the parents of Aaron Shannon Jr. would have wished for a police car to come along as the two monsters who would soon kill their son prowled that alley in search of a victim. How the loved ones of any of the thousands of Americans murdered last year would have had the same wish. If only the police had been there. But having the police there is only half of the solution to the rise in murders. Cops have to be there, and they have to be willing to get out of their cars and question people acting suspiciously. Police officers have always been willing to risk a shootout in the cause of defending the defenseless, but they are wary of becoming the next cop to star in some political prosecution.

The only thing preventing some neighborhoods in Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore and many other cities from being even deadlier than they are is the fear of the police. Where that fear is diminished, violence will only increase. The Ferguson effect is real; you’d better get used to it.

High-Tech Panhandler 'Only Homeless Guy in America Who Can Take a Credit Card'

Panhandling has gone high tech in Detroit, with one man taking handouts on a smart phone with a credit card reader.

CBS Detroit found a homeless man named Abe Hagenston who uses a cell phone to swipe credit cards when people respond to his calls for alms.

Hagenston, who calls himself “Honest Abe,” was panhandling near the 8 Mile overpass on I-75 when the TV news folks caught up with him.

Abe proudly noted that he has helped organize some of the panhandlers in his area into a union of sorts. He says they’ve worked out a schedule to panhandle in shifts to avoid stepping on each other’s territory.

Disappointed that Detroit hasn’t seen much snow to shovel for extra cash, “Honest Abe” said his intake hasn’t been as good as it could be. But the new credit card swiper is helping.

“I take VISA, MasterCard, American Express,” Abe said. “I’m the only homeless guy in America who can take a credit card. It’s all done safely and securely through square.com.”

The credit card reader Abe is talking about is a small device by a company called Square that can be plugged into a cell phone which turns the phone into a credit card scanner. Many small businesses and some bars and restaurants have turned to using the Square readers instead of purchasing the larger, counter-mounted machines we are all familiar with.

According to The Roanoke Times, 63 percent of transactions processed with the Square system come from sellers with less than $125,000 in annual payments.

“Square definitely has cornered that market,” Meghan Cieslak, a spokeswoman for the Electronic Transactions Association, a trade group for companies that process payments electronically, told the paper. “They’ve simplified the process, which I think for small merchants, it saves them a lot of time.”

Despite the growth in the use of its services, though, Square is still not a profitable company.

In the last quarter of 2015, Square reported net losses of up to $54 million, bringing total losses to about $131.5 million for 2015. The company also reported a net loss of $154 million in 2014.

As to Detroit, in 2015 the number of homeless actually decreased a little over the number seen in 2013. The city recently reported there were 2,748 homeless individuals in the Motor City last year, down 282 individuals as counted in 2013.

Carson to Muslims Looking to Immigrate to U.S.: Accept Our Values, Laws or Stay Where You Are - Breitbart

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s Republican presidential debate, Dr. Ben Carson had a strong message for practitioners of Islam, which was they must have a desire to accept “our values and our laws.”

When asked about a Muslim-American being concerned about Islamophobia, Carson said, “I don’t know about the GOP messaging, but I can tell you about my messaging. We need to stop allowing political correctness to dictate our policies, because it’s going to kill us if we don’t. In the Holy Land foundation trial in 2006 in Texas, they had a memorandum, an explanatory memorandum that talked about the fact that Americans would be easy to overcome. And to commit civilization jihad because they were going to be trying to protect the rights of the very people who were trying to subvert them. But I believe in the Teddy Roosevelt philosophy. He said, we are a nation of immigrants. as such, everybody is welcome from any race, any country, any religion, if they want to be Americans. If they want to accept our values and our laws. If not, they can stay where they are.”

'I, too, am a Jew': Obama warns of growing anti-Semitism

If he is concerned about “growing anti-Semitism”, why is President Obama so intent on bringing more Muslims into the country? Hatred of Jews is a tenant of Islam.

Note: the Islamic Hadith’s (meaning the habit or custom) are equivalent to the Christian Gospels; They are a collection of second and third person narratives describing the words and deeds of the Prophet Muhammed. Just as Christians consider four Gospels to be the most authentic (mark, Matthew, Luke and John), Muslims consider some hadiths to be the most authentic. The Qur’an (the Recitations) are a collection of sermons and revelations Allah delivered to Muhammad, either directly or through the Archangel “Gabril” (Gabriel).

A top psychoanalyst has said Chancellor Angela Merkel's refusal to reverse her "completely irrational" migrant policy is evidence of a "mental breakdown".

One of Germany’s most celebrated psychoanalysts has said the refusal of Chancellor Angela Merkel to reverse her “completely irrational” migrant policy is evidence of a potential “mental breakdown” that endangers society.

Hans-Joachim Maaz, a German psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and best-selling author, was speaking with Huffington Post Germanywhen he suggested a “stubborn” Angela Merkel has “lost touch with reality”.

According to Mr. Maaz, the German Chancellor suffers from “narcissism” brought on by people lauding her position as ‘mother of the nation’ and most powerful woman in the world, and calling for her to have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He says the “artificially inflated self-image” she labours under leads to the “stubborn attitude” on display by her during the ongoing migrant crisis.

Mr. Maaz claimed that Mrs. Merkel has not, in fact, taken any difficult decisions or displayed genuine leadership. In his opinion she reacts to situations rather than leads, something which testifies to her uncertainty and an underlying lack of self-worth.

The result of this, he says, is that she tends to make “emotional” decisions which meet immediate popular approval instead of making difficult but rational moves. By way of example he cites first Mrs. Merkel policy of phasing out nuclear power after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, a decision she took knowing most Germans backed the move.

The second “emotional” decision she took was to open Germany’s borders to Syrian migrants. Although met with worldwide approval as a “great humanitarian gesture” it was actually poorly thought through, as hindsight confirms. Now her refusal to move represents a danger to Germany.

Mr. Maaz confirmed that overachievers such as Mrs. Merkel, often suffer from “self-esteem deficit, inferiority and insecurity”.

That is not a problem when sufferers enjoy success and recognition, but it does lead to hubris and immunity to criticism which means that when things go wrong people can become prone to “loneliness” and “mental breakdown”. He sees no reason why Mrs. Merkel would react any differently, adding “a psychological or psychosomatic collapse is imminent.”

With ever more defiant reactions to criticism seeing the Chancellor “digging her heels in” rather than change course, Mr. Maaz diagnoses a very real risk to Germany, saying that by insisting on sticking with policies which no longer enjoy the support of a majority, she contributes to the breakdown of German society.

What Happens When Women Don't Learn Boundaries.

A five foot woman with a will toward violence is still destructive.

Many of you have probably seen the female doctor who attacked an uber driver when drunk -- but if not, here it is for your viewing pleasure:

In the video, the crybully states: "I'm a five foot girl who weighs a hundred pounds! Yeah, I'm attacking you." She is incredulous that she can cause damage or that there are consequences to her behavior. She starts throwing scissors out of the car and is shockedwhen the police show up. She has probably been told all of her life by the culture that she can get away with anything if violence is against the male species. After all, she is just a little girl!

Although the uber driver didn't press charges, there was some justice as she was suspended from her residency. If more women learned that there were consequences to their violent, destructive behavior, maybe they would stop thinking it is okay.

Russia's iconic AK-47 to be made in USA

The weapon of choice for guerrillas, terrorists and the soldiers of armies around the world, some 100 million AK-47s have been made in Russia since it rolled off the line in 1947. But now, the company’s U.S. arm is planning to manufacture the gun at a plant in Pompano Beach, Fla.

“An iconic firearms platform, revered the world over, with a history of intrigue and controversy, now reborn as the new American Kalashnikov,” the company said in a statement.

“Whether you are a sport shooter, hunter, protecting family, home and country, the new Kalashnikov USA firearms will exceed your expectations of how a firearm should perform.”

The rifle dreamed up by Russian Army tank commander Mikhail Kalashnikov as he lay on a hospital bed after being wounded fighting the Germans in the 1941 Battle of Bryansk, became the world’s most popular firearm. The signature AK-47 — which stands for "Avtomat Kalashnikov," or “Kalashnikov’s machine,” and the initial year of production, was long available for import from Moscow until the U.S. imposed sanctions in 2014 in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Crimea.

Last year, RWC, which was the official importer and distributor of Kalashnikov firearms, was forced to cut ties with the Russian company. But it retained the U.S. rights to the name and initially opened a small assembly facility in Tullytown, Pa. Now, the company is planning a full-fledged manufacturing plant in the Atlantic Coast community just north of Fort Lauderdale.

“Whether you are a sport shooter, hunter, protecting family, home and country, the new Kalashnikov USA firearms will exceed your expectations of how a firearm should perform,” the company statement read.

Pompano Beach spokeswoman Sandra King said the company plan had been approved by the city, but did not have details on how many jobs the factory would generate or what its annual output would be. Kalshnikov USA spokeswoman Laura Burgess could not be reached for comment.

The company launched new rifle and shotgun models last week at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the annual conference of the National Shooting Sports Foundation. The new firearms include the “Alpha” line of rifles, with 30-round magazines.

While the company will offer various guns, the AK-47 will likely be a top seller. In the U.S. market, its main competition is the AR-15, but both are reliable weapons, said firearms instructor Steve Norrris, who teaches at the Markham Park Target Range in nearby Sunrise.

“The AK-47 is just as good, if not better,” he said. “One problem has long been getting parts, which maybe now would not be an issue. A lot of people have always bought AK-47s just for the history.”

Mikhail Kalashnikov, who died in December 2013 at the age of 94, once said he felt personally untroubled by his contribution to bloodshed.

"I sleep well. It's the politicians who are to blame for failing to come to an agreement and resorting to violence," he said in 2007.
