Pittsburgh Anchor Wendy Bell Fired For Inflammatory (I.E. True) Post About Black Mass Shooting

More on the Wendy Bell firing.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Pittsburgh anchorwoman Wendy Bell (above) was fired from her job after what one paper called a “racially inflammatory” post:

The Post-Gazette has changed its headline to Wendy Bell, fired over her controversial Facebook posts, says she didn’t get a ‘fair shake’, by Maria Sciullo, March 30, 2016 11:42 PM [You can comment on Charles W. Wolfertz III’s decision to fire her here.]
What she was making an “inflammatory” post about was a mass shooting in Wilkinsburg, PA, that featured two gunmen and six victims, one an unborn child who died when his mother was shot.
Here’s the inflammatory part:

Here’s Heavy.com’s Wendy Bell: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know, March 30, 2016. Usually this “5 Fast Facts You Need to Know” is after a shooting, and fails to tell you what race or nationality the shooter was. In this case, the five fast facts are
  1. She Apologized for Offending Anyone With the Facebook Posts
  2. No Arrests Have Been Made in the Wilkinsburg Shooting
  3. She Had Worked at WTAE Since 1998 & Previously Apologized for an Insensitive Remark
  4. She Is Married to a Cardiologist & Has 5 Sons
  5. Facebook Groups Were Started to Call for Her to be ‘Held Accountable’ & to Support Her
As usual with Heavy.com, they’ve omitted the most important point:
6.She’s one hundred percent correct.
If you read Man Questioned In Connection With Wilinsburg Mass Shooting, By Heather Abraham, CBSPittsburgh, March 25, 2016 you can see what’s going on.

So what we have here is a black mass shooting involving, according to police spokesmen, “revenge.” It is not a “lone gunman” mass shooting (there are at least two gunmen) it’s not an “Immigrant Mass Murder” in which an immigrant snaps, and kills a bunch of Americans, or his whole family. It’s not a “Disgruntled Minority Massacre”, in which a minority group employee shoots their white employers and fellow workers.

It’s just typical black-on-black crime–the kind we had in the 90s, when director John Singleton made Boyz n the Hood. The kind, that under the influence of Black Lives Matter, and what we call Minority Occupation Government, is making a comeback.
To repeat the statement that Wendy Bell was fired for:
You needn’t be a criminal profiler to draw a mental sketch of the killers who broke so many hearts two weeks ago Wednesday.
They are young black men, likely teens or in their early 20s.
They have multiple siblings from multiple fathers and their mothers work multiple jobs. These boys have been in the system before.
They’ve grown up there. They know the police. They’ve been arrested.
But apparently not arrested often enough to prevent them from committing a mass murder. There is, as Ms. Bell said, nothing nice to be said about that. And in the Mainstream Media, apparently there’s nothing to be said at all.

A Boots delivery driver has been found guilty of plotting to behead a US serviceman stationed in Britain in a Lee Rigby-style attack in which he wanted to emulate Jihadi John.
Junead Khan, from Luton, was aided by a notorious British ISIS fighter in Syria as he plotted to carry out the atrocity outside RAF Mildenhall, where US Air Force personnel are stationed.
Schizophrenic Khan was a delivery driver and got the idea of an attack outside the airbase after driving past Mildenhall as he took goods to a Lloyds's pharmacy.
Khan wanted to a buy a knife similar to that used by Jihadi John and an ISIS flag was found at his home, which it is believed he wanted to unfurl at the scene.
He was directed by Junaid Hussain, a computer hacker from Birmingham who became one of ISIS's chief recruiters before he was killed by a US drone.
Khan was found guilty of preparing for an act of terrorism in the UK between May and July 2015 after a trial at Kingston Crown Court in London.
He was also convicted alongside his uncle, Shazib Khan, 23, of preparing to go to Syria to join IS. Some of the evidence used to convict the pair cannot be revealed for legal reasons.
Both men had denied engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts between August 1 2014 and July 15 2015.
Neither showed any emotion as the jury returned its verdicts after deliberating for almost 24 hours at the end of a six-and-a-half-week trial.
The plot was to emulate the killing of Lee Rigby outside Woolwich barracks in South London and Junead was researching hunting knives of the type used by ISIS executioner 'Jihadi John.'
David Cameron, the Prime Minister, told parliament at the time that Khan's contact, Junaid Hussain, was involved in 'actively recruiting ISIL sympathisers and seeking to orchestrate specific and barbaric attacks against the West.'
Hussain had told Khan: 'InshAllah [god willing], I can get u addresses but of British soldiers' but then added: 'most soldiers live in bases which are protected. I suppose on the road is the best idea.'
Khan refused to engage with the Prevent counter-extremism programme and was investigated because he was attending radical talks in Luton.
Khan delivered medical supplies to Boots, Superdrug, Morrison's Supermarket and Co-Op along with hospitals and surgeries on behalf of Alliance Healthcare.
His normal route took him through North London but during Ramadan last summer, he asked to be switched to less congested routes because he was suffering from headaches while he was fasting.
The new routes took him to East Anglia and to two Lloyd's pharmacies in the village of Mildenhall, Suffolk, close to two US airbases.
RAF Mildenhall and neighbouring RAF Lakenheath were re-opened after the second World War to host B-29 Superfortresses and have hosted US airmen ever since.

Lakenheath is currently home to the 48th 'Liberty' Fighter Wing and Mildenhall to the 100th Air Refueling Wing.
On July 5 2015, Khan wrote to Junaid Hussain on the encrypted Surespot app: 'When I saw these US soldiers on road, it just looked simple, but I had nothing on me or wouldve got into an accident with them and made them get out the car.'
'That's what the brother done with Lee Rigby,' Hussain said.
'Yes brother Mujahid style, accident and then attack,' Junead agreed enthusiastically, referring to Michael Adebolajo, one of the killers of Fusilier Lee Rigby in Woolwich.
Hussain suggested it was 'best to have at least pipe bombs or pressure cooker bomb in a backpack incase something happens, so u can do isthishadi bomb [suicide bomb] incase they try to arrest u.'
Khan agreed: 'Definitely, depends on the ingredients, on getting hold of them.'
'I have a manual for pressure cooker bomb,' Hussain told him, promising that the link was '100% safe' because he had access to the server and deleted everything after uploading it.
'Ok, I got it,' Junead reported back at 11.30pm.

20 Arkansas homes evacuated because of Civil War landmine

Back then they called them “torpedoes”.

________________________________________________________________________________

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Police in Hot Springs, Arkansas, have evacuated about 20 homes after a man mistook a Civil War-era landmine for a cannonball and took it home.
Police say as of about 4 p.m. Thursday that the U.S. Air Force Bomb Squad was looking for a place to explode the ordinance.
Police spokesman Cpl. Kirk Zaner said a Hot Springs man dug up what he thought was a cannonball near Danville. The man put the 32-pound landmine in the back of his pickup and drove about 65 miles home.
After researching pictures of Civil War-era weapons, the man called police to say he thought he found a landmine with a pressure sensor fuse. Zanier says the Air Force bomb squad X-rayed the device and found what could be explosives inside.

Mexico deported thousands of unaccompanied child migrants last year, report says | Toronto Star

Doing the jobs Americans won’t do.

An unaccompanied child migrant poses with puppets he made at a government-run shelter in Ciudad Juarez, northern Mexico on February 3, 2016. A new report by Human Rights Watch says Mexico accepted only 56 refugees from the more than 35,000 child migrants who entered the country from Central America last year.
By: Marina Jimenez Foreign Affairs Writer, Published on Thu Mar 31 2016
Eleven-year-old Omar’s grandparents feared the gangs would come for him, so they paid a smuggler to take him to Mexico. “Life is ugly where I live,” said Omar, who is from Honduras, a country with one of the world’s highest homicide rates.
But in Mexico, immigration authorities detained him. He was alone, a skinny kid in well-worn khakis and a T-shirt, terrified at the prospect of having to spend months in a prison-like setting with no school and no outings. So, he agreed to be deported home. He did not make an asylum claim.
“Putting children in a position in which they think they have to choose between months in detention or being returned to danger violates common decency as well as Mexican and international law,” said Michael Bochenek, senior children’s rights counsel with Human Rights Watch (HRW) and author of the 151-page report, “Closed Doors: Mexico’s Failure to Protect Central American Refugee and Migrant Children.”
Bochenek and his team spent nine months interviewing 61 children — including Omar — and 100 adults who had travelled to Mexico from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, collectively known as the Northern Triangle countries.
The report is the first comprehensive analysis about what happens in Mexico to unaccompanied children who flee there from the Northern Triangle. Many are escaping the clutches of gangs in their countries, who try to recruit, extort, kidnap or even kill them. Poverty convinces others to leave.
Last year, Mexico apprehended more than 35,704 children from the Northern Triangle, an increase of 55 per cent, compared to 2014, and 270 per cent more than in 2013. Only 56 were accepted as refugees.
Mexico has laws in place to protect refugees, and also laws that stipulate unaccompanied minors must be placed in shelters operated by the country’s child protection system.
In reality, however, children who may have claims for refugee recognition confront multiple obstacles from the moment they are taken into custody, said Bochenek.
Most are detained in overcrowded, prison-like settings. Often, they do not know they are entitled to make a claim for asylum, and feel added anxiety and fear about spending time in detention. They are not referred to lawyers.
One 17-year-old girl interviewed by Human Rights Watch said: “Not knowing what would happen to me made me so anxious I thought about killing myself.”
Another young Honduran, 17-year-old Edgar, who was threatened by gangs, made it north past Mexico’s border states to Oaxaca, before he was detained.
“I told the immigration official I couldn’t return. He said I could ask for asylum, but it would be six months before I’d hear back and I was already in detention,” said Edgar, in the HRW report. “I knew I couldn’t handle it (being locked up).”
The journey through Mexico can itself be dangerous; frequently, migrants are kidnapped, extorted or raped. That makes them victims of crime in Mexico, and eligible for a “humanitarian” visa to stay for 12 months, although in practice this rarely happens.
The HRW report, released Thursday, comes at a time when Mexico is apprehending an increasing number of Central Americans, in response to pressure from the U.S., which has provided funding to Mexico to beef up enforcement.
At the same time, U.S. apprehensions of unaccompanied children from Central America have decreased.
In northern Mexico, unaccompanied child refugees are treated better and routinely housed in shelters and not in detention centres, the report noted. “Those exceptions demonstrate that Mexico is capable of complying with its international obligations and the requirements of its own laws.”
HRW is calling on the U.S. to direct funding not just at enforcement efforts, but to support underage refugees themselves, and to improve Mexico’s asylum processing system.

Will California be Able to Enforce a $15 Per Hour Minimum Wage?

https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/vdare-live/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/31182723/digest20072_Hanson.jpg

Good question. How WILL California be able to enforce a 15 dollar per hour minimum wage when there is so much illegal immigrant labor in the state? Businesses will hire illegals rather than American workers whenever and wherever they can to avoid paying the high minimum wage. Many of the small businesses there, especially those run by immigrants from third world cultures who already ignore laws and regulations that cut into their bottom line. As Victor Davis Hanson has frequently observed in his article such laws and regulations are only enforced against Anglo whites in California these days. It’s called “Anarcho-Tyranny” when the government enforces laws on one group but not on others.

__________________________________________________________________

The California legislature has voted to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour ($30,000 per year, roughly) by 2022.
I could see a high minimum wage doing some good, but I could also see it turning into a fiasco.
Here’s a question that I haven’t seen discussed much. Everybody has an opinion on what the impacts of the law would be assuming it is implemented the way it says in the law it would be implemented; but I’m wondering more what sectors of the California economy will just ignore this new law the way they currently ignore many of the other laws and regulations?
How enforceable are high minimum wage laws, especially in contemporary California, a state where a huge fraction of small business employers these days aren’t from cultures where the concept of Rule of Law is highly valued?
California is an interesting example of corruption because the government isn’t all that corrupt relative to, say, Illinois, where the government tends to shake down honest businesses. California still has 1910 Progressive government structures that are more resistant to governmental corruption than Chicago. But California now seems to have a high level of private enterprise corruption, with businesses cheating the government over taxes and Medicare and each other via insurance fraud and the like.
So, it’s hard to say what will happen with a very high minimum wage. Big companies will have to follow the law, but a huge fraction of small businessmen in California these days are Men in Gold Chains who think laws are only for chumps.
Consider this analogous situation: Turkey’s Gulen cult, which is run out of Saylorsburg in the Poconos ever since the Imam Gulen fled to exile in the U.S. in the late 1990s, is the largest operator of charter schools in the United States, taking in over a half billion dollars of American taxpayer money annually. They import a lot of Turkish men to teach in their charter schools here and force these immigrants to kick back a sizable percentage of their teachers’ salary, such as 40%, to the cult: after all, 60% of an American teacher’s salary is still a lot of money to a Third Worlder.
I could imagine such practices becoming fairly widespread in California with a $15 minimum wage: immigrants would get officially paid $15 per hour, but would have to kick back $5 per hour (or whatever) under the table to their employers.
By the way, a couple of years ago, the FBI was aggressively investigating the Gulen cult charter school fraud, but I haven’t heard much about it lately. (I kind of suspect the CIA had a sit down with the FBI and explained that the Gulen Cult was the U.S.A.’s government-in-waiting for Turkey and, as Napoleon said, “As always, the central question is Constantinople.”)
From The Hill:
March 31, 2016, 06:00 am
By Robert R. Amsterdam
A secretive Islamic movement is trying to infiltrate the U.S. military by establishing and operating publicly-funded charter schools targeted toward children of American service personnel.
That charge may sound like a conspiracy theory from the lunatic fringe, but it is real and it is happening right now. The most immediate threat is in Nevada, where Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV) is currently negotiating with the United States Air Force to locate a charter school at Nellis Air Force Base, with classes starting this fall. What is not widely known is that CASLV is part of a nationwide organization of charter schools and other businesses headed by Islamic cleric Fethullah Gülen, a reclusive but influential Imam living under self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania to avoid criminal prosecution in his native Turkey.
Our law firm has been engaged by the Republic of Turkey – a key NATO ally in a hotbed region – to conduct a wide-ranging investigation into the operations and geopolitical influence of the Gülen organization, which is behind the Coral Academy of Science and over 140 other public charter schools scattered across 26 American states. Our investigation, still in its early stages, reveals that the Gülen organization uses charter schools and affiliated businesses in the U.S. to misappropriate and launder state and federal education dollars, which the organization then uses for its own benefit to develop political power in this country and globally.
Aside from defrauding American taxpayers, the Gülen organization has an even more ominous objective in the United States. The organization is one of the country’s largest recipients of H1-B “specialty occupation” visas, which it uses to import Turkish teachers into its charter schools, supposedly because local U.S. talent is not available to fill math and science teaching positions in its charter schools. The Gülen organization illegally threatens to revoke these visas unless the Turkish teachers agree to kick back part of their salary to the organization.
More importantly, the Turkish teachers in Gülen organization charter schools are evaluated not on the basis of their teaching skills, but rather on whether they achieve monthly goals in a secret point system designed to instil Turkish culture and Gülenist ideology in our American students. The goal, we are told, is to develop a Gülenist following of high achievers, incubated in our local community schools across the country.
Okay, but Counselor Amsterdam, you’re a hired gun for Erdogan, ruler of Turkey. Back when I first wrote about the Gulen on 1/1/14, the Gulenists were trying to overthrow Erdogan on corruption charges, just as they had previously helped Erdogan imprison his secularist and military enemies on charges largely trumped up by Gulen’s guys. But Erdogan appears to have since done a deal with the beaten down military to stick it to the Gulenists, — and, by weaponizing refugee flows, Erdogan has found new, more powerful friends in the world, such as Ms. Merkel who is getting the EU to payoff and admit Turkey — so now I’m feeling sorry, kind of, for Gulen.
But shouldn’t the U.S. subsidy for Gulen come out of the CIA’s budget rather than out of local taxpayers’ property taxes for schools?

Wendy Bell, fired over her controversial Facebook posts, says she didn’t get a 'fair shake'

http://www.post-gazette.com/image/2016/03/23/720x_q90_cMC_z_ca0%2c38%2c543%2c525/Wendy-Bell-1.jpg

Lessons learned:
1. You must not ever tell the truth about social problems in America, least you be accused of promoting “stereotypes”.
2. Nothing good comes from posting your thoughts and opinions on social media. You will eventually post something that will provoke the SJW “thought police” and it will cost you your job and subject you to all sorts of social opprobrium from the “right-thinking” people.

The irony is that media figures like Ms. Bell are encouraged by management to post their thoughts and opinions on social media such as Facebook and Twitter in the belief that it will increase ratings for their station. Nevertheless they will get no support whatsoever from the management if they should ever say the “wrong thing”.

___________________________________________________________________________
Wendy Bell, an award-winning journalist with WTAE-TV for 18 years, was fired Wednesday for comments she made on her Facebook page.
A statement from Hearst Television, the station’s parent company, said, “WTAE has ended its relationship with anchor Wendy Bell. Wendy’s recent comments on a WTAE Facebook page were inconsistent with the company’s ethics and journalistic standards.”
WTAE-TV president and general manager Charles Wolfertz III confirmed the news and declined to comment. A spokesman for Hearst Television also declined to comment further. News of her firing drew hundreds of online posts within the first half-hour, with some people saying they would be switching to another station.
Ms. Bell did not return phone calls for comment from the Post-Gazette, but she told the Associated Press that she didn’t get a “fair shake” from the station, and that the story was not about her, but about “African-Americans being killed by other African-Americans.”
“It makes me sick,” she told The Associated Press when reached at her home on Wednesday. “What matters is what’s going on in America, and it is the death of black people in this country. ... I live next to three war-torn communities in the city of Pittsburgh, that I love dearly. My stories, they struck a nerve. They touched people, but it’s not enough. More needs to be done. The problem needs to be addressed.”
Ms. Bell joined WTAE in 1998 and has won 21 regional Emmy Awards.Ms. Bell had been off the air since Mr. Wolfertz aired a public apology from the station last week, citing Ms. Bell’s “egregious lack of judgment” in posting racial stereotypes on her official Facebook page.
After a mass shooting March 9 in Wilkinsburg in which police still have made no arrests, Ms. Bell wrote, in part, “You needn’t be a criminal profiler to draw a mental sketch of the killers who broke so many hearts two weeks ago Wednesday... they are young black men, likely in their teens or early 20s.
“They have multiple siblings from multiple fathers and their mothers work multiple jobs.”
She then wrote about a young African-American man, this one a worker she saw in a SouthSide Works restaurant. She said she called over the manager and praised the man, adding, “I wonder how long it had been since someone told him he was special.”
Since originally posting on Facebook, Ms. Bell edited the statement and eventually removed it. It created an online stir, with parodies on sites such as verysmartbrothas.com and thousands of comments for and against the longtime newswoman on sites such as reddit.
Many of the readers posting comments on a Post-Gazette.com story about the firing Wednesday said they would be switching stations to express their outrage over WTAE’s actions.
Ms. Bell later apologized for her Facebook post. In part, the apology read, “I now understand that some of the words I chose were insensitive and could be viewed as racist. I regret offending anyone. I’m truly sorry.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, that Facebook page had been taken down. Her profile on the WTAE-TV website also had been removed.
Asked to weigh in on the firing, a journalism ethics expert said freedom of speech is a tricky thing when practiced by those who must adhere to the facts.

Articles: A Dangerously Deluded Pope

http://www.americanthinker.com/assets/images/at-painter-og-image.png

“Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” – Luke 5:29-32

Pope Francis, being a social justice warrior (SJW), takes the opposite view. He is calling the righteous to repentance, not the sinners. Like other SJWs Pope smiley-face dislikes normal, successful people and spares no opportunity to scold and criticize them for their failings, real or imagined. .Like all other SJWs he enjoys shocking the “squares” and rubbing their collective nose in things they dislike. Particularly “vibrant multiculturalism” and all the crime, uncivil behavior, chaos and poverty that accompanies it. It appears likely then that Pope Francis, just like the rest of the Left, will support Muslim mass migration into Europe right up to the point they cut his own head off.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Pope Francis, it seems, can't stop squandering whatever little true moral capital he has left. Last week the ageing pontiff, who is much given to periodic bouts of showboating, decided to drop to his knees before several recent Muslim migrants to Europe (call them "refugees," if you will) from North Africa and the Middle East. He then proceeded to wash the asylum seekers' feet with holy water before wiping them clean and kissing them. A cringe-worthy spectacle that was.
It was a customary rite for Holy Thursday, of course, during which a regnant Vicar of Christ may choose to reenact a public act of humility by emulating Jesus, who washed the feet of his disciples prior to his crucifixion. But not for Francis simple humility. Instead, the media-savvy pope could not resist the temptation to use the contrived photo-op to continue leading beleaguered Europeans down a primrose path by way of "moral guidance."
There the Holy Father was, sanctimoniously harping on his oft-repeated homily that Europeans besieged by militant Islam should throw their arms and houses wide open for the massive influx of Muslim migrants who are threatening the very social, political, and religious fabrics of their societies. “I like it a lot when I see nations, governments, who open their hearts and open their doors (to migrants),” His Holiness asserted. Right. I'll like it a whole lot more when I see him open the Vatican's own doors instead. Let me know when that happens.
Simultaneously, the pontiff was trotting out fatuous "We're-the-World" platitudes. “We have different cultures and religions, but we are brothers and we want to live in peace,” he intoned. His Holiness should tell that to the countless Islamists who are plotting endlessly to murder as many Europeans as they can and whenever they can. Some of them have just slaughtered 31 commuters in a series of suicide bomb attacks in Brussels. A prime suspect behind the bomb attacks at the city's airport is a Belgian-born Muslim, Fayçal Cheffou, ("the man in the hat" from security footage), who happens to be -- wait for it -- a "rights activist" for Muslim migrants. The irony of that should not be lost on us. Meanwhile, over in Lahore, Pakistan, while local Christians celebrated Easter Sunday, an Islamic suicide bomber self-detonated among them, killing at least 70 men, women and children.
And Francis' response to the brutal war on Christendom and the West? He kisses the feet of people from the very religion responsible for it. Then again, this is a man who has called the Brussels bloodbath a "gesture of destruction," thereby making it sound as if this latest Islamic terror attack was nothing more than a passing nuisance. If this is the kind of "moral infallibility" that the head of the Vatican can muster these days, his flock is doomed. Francis doesn't just want European Christians to "turn the other cheek"; he wants them to emulate him by bending the knee to people many of whom make no secret of their desire to murder or subjugate all non-Muslims. Any minute now the pope might grab a guitar and launch into a soulful rendition of "Give Peace a Chance."
And he wasn't done yet. “All of us, together: Muslims, Hindi, Catholics, Copts, Evangelicals. But brothers, children of the same God,” the pope pontificated. For starters, Hindi is a language, not a people, but let's let that pass. He also neglected to mention Jews. What's up with that? But let's ignore that, too. What's most galling is his mindless, politically-correct ecumenism. It may have escaped His Holiness's attention, but Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, not to mention Hinduism, are contradictory and mutually exclusive religions. Islam denies the divinity of Jesus, or even that Jesus died on the cross. Hindus believe in a vast pantheon of deities and reject the monotheism of the three Abrahamic faiths. Either Jesus atoned for the sins of humanity, as per the teachings of Christianity, or he didn't, as per the teachings of Islam. Either Mohammed was a perfect example for all people in all ages to follow, as Islam has it, or he was a terrible example that no one should follow, as many non-Muslims contend, and so on and so forth.
Francis is the Catholic Church's first pope who is an out-and-out social justice warrior. That's not a compliment. Like many a self-styled SJW, he prides himself on moral virtues he hasn't earned or demonstrated. He is dangerously deluded if he thinks that his protestations of love will sway the suicide bombers. Needless to say, pious Muslims rarely if ever reciprocate his and his likeminded "progressive" fellow travelers' sycophantic overtures. "We want to live in peace, integrated,” the pope avowed. We all do. But whose fault is that there is no peace in Europe and that certain immigrants have refused to integrate into their host societies? What unites all those immigrants who have remained stubbornly and often violently unassimilated -- from France to Germany to Belgium to Holland to Sweden to England -- is that they all happen to be... Muslim. Across the continent, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, animists and atheists all get on very well, thank you very much. It's many Muslims who can't get along with anyone else, and often each other.
The very same day the pope was on his knees kissing the feet of random migrants outside an asylum center in Rome, a Muslim shopkeeper in Glasgow, who seem to have been blissfully well-integrated indeed, was savagely murdered by two other Muslim men in what police described as a "religiously prejudiced" attack. A few hours before he was stabbed to death, Asad Shah relayed a heartfelt public Easter message on Facebook to his Christian friends. By doing so, he violated one of Allah's commands to Muslims. "O ye who believe, take not the Jews and the Christians for friends!" the Koran (5:51) counsels. "They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk."
Yet many Europeans can't stop wanting to befriend Muslims, a lot of whom would instead prefer to see them dead. After every new act of savagery on European soil by Islamic terrorists comes the usual merry-go-round of feckless groveling, spearheaded by the likes of Pope Francis. The script has by now been perfected to a T. First, there's a bit of a shock at the callous brutality of the attackers and a bit of tough talk about waging war on a nebulous miasma of "radicalism," which "knows no religion." That done, it's on to distancing the self-proclaimed soldiers of Allah from Islam by claiming they have misunderstood a fine and peaceful religion and violated Islam's core teachings of universal brotherhood among all people (which happen not to exist). That is then followed immediately by warnings, repeated ad nauseam, of an imminent backlash (which never materializes) by "bigoted," "racist" and "xenophobic" Europeans against innocent Muslims who, we're told, are the real victims of Islamic terrorism. Finally, the crescendo of misdirection culminates in lectures to Europeans on their failure to integrate Muslims better and calls on them to atone some more for their forefathers' alleged misdeeds against the great religion of Islam.
To hell with all that. Peace will come only when it's not native Europeans but Muslims who are expected to engage in extensive soul-searching apropos the self-evident failures of their communities and societies. Europeans have not failed Muslim immigrants. It's many Muslim immigrants in Europe who have failed their host societies by refusing to integrate and become productive members of them, even as they continue to incubate an atavistic grievance culture of violent jihadism.
Pope Francis should man up and get up from his knees. Groveling isn't a virtue in the face of violent jihad; it's a sign of weakness and moral cowardice. Then again, the stalwarts of the Islamic State have openly declared war against the Vatican ("We will conquer your Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted") will like a pope on his knees just fine.

WASHINGTON — The US Army has awarded Orbital ATK with a $120 million contract modification to make kits that turn conventional 155mm artillery into a near-precision shell.

The kits are meant to limit civilian casualties and collateral damage, allowing the use of artillery where it would have otherwise been ill-advised — in a congested area or near friendly forces. The guidance fuzes would be fielded to the Army, the Marine Corps, Australia and Canada. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2016, following low-rate initial production, which began in January.

In 2006, ATK — which has since merged with Orbital — was awarded one of two technology demonstration contracts from the US Army to develop the XM1156 precision guidance kit (PGK) for the 155mm howitzer artillery system. In 2013, it won a $58 million contract, with a base requirement and two options for a year of full-rate production; the recent award was option one.
120 million is a nice chunk, but it is not much in the overall DOD budget.  These kits are well worth having.  The article claims that the fuses only cost about 10K each.  That would be 100 fuses per million dollars, or 12,000 fuses total.  I expect the price to drop with mass production.  This is already a significant price drop from the Excaliber round, which I also spent an extensive number of hours supporting.  The Excaliber round current cost of production is about 68K or about seven times as expensive as the PGK.

The range for both of the rounds is about 25-27 miles.  I can envision a Tom Clancy type novel, consisting of the consequences of jihadis obtaining a couple of M777 howitzers and 50 of the PGK fuses with the shells to go with them, and how they would be deployed in the U.S.A.

Here is a video of the Precision Guidance Kit (PGK) to make smart shells out of “dumb” standard rounds.

It is a great feeling to see that some of the many, many hours I put in on RDT&E is paying off.

Think of how few rounds you need, in comparison with the massive artillery barrages in WWII, when you have this sort of accuracy at your fingertips.
“During this demonstration, PGK delivered 90 percent of rounds fired within five meters accuracy of the target positioned 27 kilometers from the gun position.”
It probably costs 10K just to get a plane off the ground, not to include the risk to pilot and the plane.

A simple “dumb” round costs about $500. So you can have 21 “dumb” rounds for 1 PGK. But that does not consider the costs of shipping those rounds, transporting them in a combat situation, and storing and guarding them.
Nor are you assured that 21 “dumb” rounds will achieve what you are likely to get with 1 PGK. You have to fire to see where the dumb rounds hit, then adjust them into the target, which gives the target time to react, disperse, get under cover, start counter battery fire...

The over all cost and effectiveness figures are all on the side of the PGK.

There are some times when you need massed fire.  You do not need precision munitions for that.  But have enough precision munitions, and there is a good chance you will not have to use mass fires, nearly as much.

'Precariat' generation missing out on Australian lifestyle

Even in Australia Millennials have been set up for failure. The pattern is the same throughout all the English speaking countries: the schools have been turned into Leftist indoctrination mills that just teach the students how to be perpetually aggrieved.

The gap between generations is growing with young people behind in material wealth and mental wellbeing, a new book reveals.
'Precariat' generation missing out on Australian lifestyle

The story below is probably correct.  It is one of many stories that report on the unemployability of many young people today.  And where lies the blame for that?  Squarely on the Left-dominated educational system with its emphasis on saving the planet and glorifying homosexuality.

Kids are encouraged to embark on studies that lead nowhere.  Take the kid used as an example below.  What did he do his degree in? "Contemporary music". Making money as a musician has always been a grind.  It's an oversupplied market. I knew a lot of musicians once and they were all usually "skint".

My son shows how it can be if you have useful skills.  He was "headhunted" during his very first job interview by a member of the interviewing panel and given a job immediately.  So what are his skills?  He is an IT professional.  He is at ease writing multiple computer programming languages.  And such skills don't necessarily take long to acquire.  I learnt to program computers in the FORTRAN language from a course that consisted of just 4 mornings. - john J. Young Australians have fewer opportunities for full-time work and affordable housing, creating a new "precariat" social class lacking security and predictability, according to a new book.

Jennifer Rayner, author of Generation Less: How Australia is Cheating the Young, said policies skewed towards the older generation dramatically increased disparities between the young and the old.

This, she said, had placed an "enduring handicap" on those born from the 1980s onwards.

"There have always been gaps between younger people and older people in Australia, and that's true everywhere because young people are starting out in life, because they haven't had as much time in the workforce," Ms Rayner said.

"But over the last 30 years in Australia what has happened is that all of those gaps are getting wider.

"What the data shows is that young people are going backwards compared to the people the same age 15 years ago."

Less than one in 30 young people reported being underemployed in the 1970s. But that figure now stood at about one in six, Ms Rayner said.

The number of young people working casually also jumped from 34 per cent in 1992 to 50 per cent in 2013.

Over the same period, the percentage of people working without entitlements in their 40s and 50s barely moved.

Unless policies around housing and the casualisation of the workforce changed, the disadvantage would become entrenched, Ms Rayner said.

"The fact that all of these trends and factors are ganging up on young people means that their experience of being an Australian is basically different from other generations," she said.

"The [youth] are currently part of the precariat and they will find themselves locked in there as they grow older, if these trends continue, and if nothing changes in their circumstances."

Ms Rayner said instability affected the material and emotional wellbeing of the young.

Something that 26-year-old Sam Johnston knows only too well. Mr Johnston moved to Melbourne in 2015 with his girlfriend Edie after a year travelling overseas.

He failed to find full-time work, but a bachelor's degree in contemporary music and a graduate diploma in education from Southern Cross University in NSW means he has a debt of about $30,000 "hanging over his head".

Mr Johnston said he "gave up" looking for full-time work in the "depth of winter" and was now focused on his gigs, which were easier to get. He also volunteers as a teacher's aide and tutors students to gain experience.

But the lack of income and the absence of a community in the new city has taken a toll.  "I had a bout with depression last year which lasted nine months," Mr Johnston said.  "I am still on antidepressants now, which is coming to a close very shortly."

Grattan Institute chief executive John Daley said the book's finding was consistent with the institute's research.

"There is a real danger of a generation that will be less well off than its parents," Mr Daley said.

"You can see it in an older cohort that has much more wealth than their predecessors, whereas wealth in younger households is not going up very fast.

"You see it in incomes, you see it in ... very rapidly falling rates of home ownerships."

Several factors, including rapidly falling interest rates, an age-based tax, welfare, and superannuation system geared towards older workers, were responsible for the situation, Mr Daley said.
