Battle under the sea

Battle under the sea

Still think they're not invaders?
Invading migrants who stormed the Channel Tunnel in a desperate bid to break into Britain by force managed to get ten miles before they were caught, it has emerged.

A group of around 110 migrants, thought to be from Sudan and Eritrea, broke down security fences, pelted police with stones then made a dash for the tunnel in the early hours ofSaturday morning.

They were eventually stopped by French gendarmes, who were able to stop the group by force in a battle some 250ft below the sea.
Let's see. They broke through the border defenses, attacked the border guards with weapons, then were stopped by violence. Sounds like an invasion to me. Sure, they're not wearing uniforms; does that mean the Zulu War and the Boer War weren't wars either?

Meanwhile, in Germany, the government has admitted that they are expecting 1.5 million migrants this year, nearly twice as many as they previously reported. They seem surprisingly unconcerned, perhaps because past German governments have demonstrated their ability to deal with four times that number

Obama: Nihilist or Just Incompetent?

http://cdn1.pjmedia.com/victordavishanson/user-content/2/files/2015/10/obama_surrenders_mobile_4-5-15-1.jpg

Three things so far have saved Obama’s otherwise unfortunate tenure; all came over his own objections. One, after the 2010 midterm tsunami, the newly elected House Republicans put a lid on spending -- ratified by the wins of 2014. Sequestration is a crude blunderbuss and slashed defense, but it at least slowed down Obama’s disastrous serial $1 trillion-plus budget deficits. In spending terms, it certainly has vastly reduced the government’s share of GDP. We know that because Obama occasionally brags of falling deficits, as if to say ,”Thank you for not letting me be entirely myself”.

…Was all this due to incompetence or nihilism?
Who knows or cares? The only mystery left is how much damage the last gasp of 2016 will bring? Abroad, our enemies will rightly conclude that 2016 is about the time to cash in the last of their winnings and leave the table. And at home, we will have a year to go of petulance, spite, and snark because we have finally rejected the messiah sent into the world to save us.

Obama Preparing More Executive Actions on Gun Control

http://media.breitbart.com/media/2015/10/GettyImages-155691870.jpg

The White House confirmed that President Obama was preparing a series of executive actions on gun control.
The White House confirmed that President Obama was preparing a series of executive actions on gun control to match his recent passion on the issue after the latest mass shooting in Oregon.
“It’s a high priority and will continue to be until we start to see more progress on this issue in this town,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters today at the press briefing.
Earnest said he would “quibble” with anyone who criticized the president for not voicing any specific gun control proposals during his press conference, asserting that the White House was working behind the scenes for more executive actions on guns.
“I can tell you that they’re not stumped, they’re continuing to review the law that’s on the books and continuing to consult with legal authorities but also others who may have ideas about what steps that can be taken to keep guns out of the hands of criminals,” Earnest said.
He admitted, however that he had no details for what the White House was working on, but asserted that the process was a “scrub” that was “ongoing.”
Earnest welcomed Hillary Clinton’s own gun control proposals announced this morning, but admitted that he hadn’t seen the full details of the proposal.
He also pointedly criticized the “gun show loophole” for allowing criminals and people with mental problems to buy weapons, blaming organizations like the National Rifle Association for blocking action in Congress on the issue.

Jeb Bush Can't Win - DickMorris.com

Candidates with famous names have a built-in advantage at the outset of any race, but their name often turns into a liability as the contest unfolds.

We are seeing this with the latest Pew poll showing Jeb garnering a tiny 4 percent. Hillary, despite her "brand," sees her own numbers dwindling in the face of Bernie Sanders populist onslaught.

At the start, a famous name comes with a built-in reputation, donor base, and public recognition.

But, as the candidacy matures, voters recognize the ways in which the current candidate falls short of his namesake.

Jeb is criticized for not having his brother George's energy (Trump says Jeb has "low energy"), wit, or even his speech-making ability.

Hillary gets knocked for not being the natural politician that Bill is and for lacking his political instincts.

While other candidates are free to make their own images, those blessed with famous names must do so in the shadow of their forebears.

But Jeb's problems run deeper than simply those of the generic famous-last-name politician.

They start with the fundamental lack of popularity of his ancestors.  After all, Bush-41 was defeated for re-election, primarily because he couldn't hold his base that defected to Ross Perot.

Bush-43 left office under the twin clouds of Iraq and the 2008 economic crash.  He had a 34% approval on his departure.

Today, Jeb is running at a turning point in Republican thinking.

The enthusiasm that impelled victories in 2010 and 2014 has morphed into cynicism as Boehner and McConnell have failed utterly to leave a Republican imprint on Washington events.

Out maneuvered at every turn by Obama, they have given the centrist, establishment GOP a negative image among Party voters.

For many, Jeb Bush is the embodiment of that image.  His brother, George W. Bush will always be the man who appointed Justice Roberts and sealed the success of Obamacare with his opinion in its favor.

Meanwhile, Jeb has failed to keep pace with his Party's drift to the right.  On the twin issues of immigration and education, he has stuck to a centrist position that his Party's base opposes.

Immigration is not just any issue.  It is the fundamental key to the maintenance of the United States as we have known it.

There are 7 billion people in the world.  Many want to come here.  We have learned from bitter experience that amnesty for those who are already here just encourages more to come.  But Jeb has learned no such lesson.

And, on education -- the quintessential function of the individual states -- Jeb's embrace of a federally-mandated Common Core flies in the face of the Republican base's increasing reverence for the 10th Amendment.

Finally, Jeb Bush lacks charisma, he is mediocrity submerged in a field of interesting, charismatic and attractive candidates.

Say what you will about Trump, Carson, Carly, Rubio, Cruz, Huckabee, Kasich, Christie or even Rand, they are stand-out personalities with compelling positions and features.

By comparison, Jeb just blends into the background, looking like a less-interesting hybrid of his father and brother.

Bush and his well-heeled backers on Wall Street had hoped to compensate for his shortcomings by amassing a pile of money and an avalanche of endorsements - creating an "air of inevitability."

So far, the big endorsements haven't materialized.

The money did -- more than $120 million. But money has a very limited use in a presidential primary race. It can be very effective in negative advertising aimed at a particular opponent who may not have the cash on hand to reply.  But in a sixteen way field, how do you base a campaign on negatives?

To avoid being brushed aside in the whittling down process, a candidate must stand out for his positives.

So far Jeb has not articulated those well, leaving his strongest supporters to wonder whether he could really handle a national campaign against Hillary or another Democrat.

With 24/7 news coverage and three hour debates every few weeks, voters are not going to look to ads, no matter how brilliantly they are produced, to learn about the candidate.

It's a case of voters saying "will I look at the candidate's ad or the evidence of my own eyes?"

For all these reasons and more, Jeb deserves his current 4 percent vote share in the latest Pew Research poll.

He is not a winner.

Hungary condemned for building a new Iron Curtain to keep out migrants

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/10/03/00/2D062FAD00000578-0-image-a-77_1443828584211.jpg

The razor-wire fence (pictured), which spans the entire distance of Hungary's border with Serbia, has become a defining symbol of Europe's growing migrant crisis.
'Brussels is failing to understand just how deeply Hungarians feel about this issue,' said Neil Barnett, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Policy Studies think-tank in London, who lived in Hungary for more than a decade.
'For centuries the Magyars have felt themselves to be the unthanked guardians of European Christendom. However much arching of eyebrows this causes in Brussels, here is a question that threatens to tear Europe apart at the seams.'
Because, for Hungarians, the 'Iron Curtain' is a source of pride, not shame.

Destroying Gun Control With A Single Question - Bearing Arms - Gun Control, Video

This is great! Yeah, Leftists are all about “doing something”, promoting symbolism over substance! Of course the solution that all these Liberal talking heads want to impose is to restrict the freedom of law-abiding citizens to own guns. They’ll gladly take your guns away and leave you at the mercy of criminal element. A criminal element that these same Leftists allow to run rampant and victimize the public with near impunity. They allow dangerous lunatics to run loose. They even allow criminals from other countries to enter the country at will and prey on American citizens. The Government has show time and again that it is unable and unwilling to protect American citizens from crime and violence. So why would we want to accept restrictions on our right to own guns? And more to the point why should we trust a government that is being so incompetently run and so uncaring about the safety of ordinary citizens? One who’s only solution to a social problem is to take away OUR freedom?

San Francisco's last gun store closing doors for good

http://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/tenant/amp/entityid/AAf5Vi5.img

SAN FRANCISCO — The only gun store in San Francisco is shuttering for good, saying it can no longer operate in the city's political climate of increased gun control regulations and vocal opposition to its business.
"It's with tremendous sadness and regret that I have to announce we are closing our shop," High Bridge Arms manager Steve Alcairo announced in a Facebook post on Sept. 11. "It has been a long and difficult ride, but a great pleasure to be your last San Francisco gun shop."
Alcairo said the breaking point came this summer when a local politician proposed a law that would require High Bridge Arms to video record every gun sale and submit a weekly report of ammunition sales to the police. If passed, the law would join several local gun control ordinances on the books in a city still scarred by the 1993 murder of eight in a downtown high-rise and the 1978 assassination of Mayor George Moscone and gay rights activist Harvey Milk.
"I'm not doing that to our customers. Enough is enough," Alcairo said. "Buying a gun is a constitutionally protected right. Our customers shouldn't be treated like they're doing something wrong."
The announcement prompted an outpouring of sympathy and anger online from gun enthusiasts — and a steady stream of customers eager to take advantage of going-out-of-business prices.
The new rifles lining the store's walls are quickly dwindling, and the handguns in the glass cases are going fast. So are T-shirts that boast in English and Chinese that High Bridge is "The Last San Francisco Gun Store."
For years, the High Bridge Arms weathered mounting restrictions imposed by local lawmakers and voters, who passed a handgun ban in 2005 that a judge later struck down. The gun store increasingly stood out in the gentrifying Bernal Heights neighborhood of hot restaurants, trendy bars and a chic marijuana dispensary, while weathering organized campaigns calling for its closure.
High Bridge will close Oct. 31, Alcairo said.
Supervisor Mark Farrell said he introduced the latest bill to help police combat violent crime in the city. "Anything that makes San Francisco safer, I support," he said.
Farrell said the bill hasn't been voted on, and he doesn't understand why the store is closing now. He said it was "comical" that the High Bridge is blaming its closure on a proposed law still months away from taking effect.
Alcairo said news coverage of the bill's introduction in July slowed sales considerably because customers wrongly believed their purchases would be recorded and turned over to police. He said he had to lay off three clerks and that sales slumped throughout the summer. The store's summer slump comes amid an overall gun sales surge in the state, according to California Department of Justice statistics.
The California DOJ reported 931,000 guns sold last year— three times the number sold in 2004 and the second highest annual number since the department began keeping sales records in 1991.
In the end, Alcairo said, he and the High Bridge Arms owner tired of the continued opposition and mountains of paperwork required by the San Francisco Police Department, state Department of Justice and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Alcairo grew up near the store and says he is angry and disappointed with San Francisco.
"This is the city that defended gay marriage and fights for unpopular causes like medical marijuana," he said. "Where's my support?"
Champion pistol shooter Bob Chow opened the store in 1952, four years after competing for the United States in the summer Olympics in London. Chow sold the store to Andy Takahashi in 1988. Chow died in 2003. Takahashi, who also owns the building that houses the store, declined to comment.
Alcairo said the owner shouldn't have a problem attracting another type of business in economically booming San Francisco.
The quirky city fixture attracted gun enthusiasts from around the world, many posing in photos with Alcairo and his pistol-packing clerks. Alcairo said professional athletes would visit the store when playing in San Francisco for the novelty of buying a weapon — and a T-shirt — from the city's last gun store.
"High Bridge has always taken care of me," said Chris Cheng, a San Francisco resident who calls it "my home store." Cheng won a $100,000 cash prize and a professional marksman contract after winning the History Channel's "Top Shot" competition.
"It's always been a challenge for the store to do business in San Francisco," Cheng said.

How 7 years of Obama brought the world from Kumbaya to chaos

https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/putinobamamaaaaa.jpg

Just three years ago, President Obama famously ridiculed GOP opponent Mitt Romney’s statement that Russia remained America’s main geopolitical foe by taunting: “The 1980s are calling to ask for their foreign policy back.”
Four years before that, Obama stood at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate to declare that once he became president, all people would join him around a global campfire, hold hands and put an end to the world’s evils and miseries.
Well, seven years into Obama’s presidency, the promised worldwide Kumbaya is instead global chaos — caused in large measure by his willful retreat from America’s position of leadership.
Washington’s traditional allies increasingly feel abandoned, its enemies emboldened. The United States isn’t even leading from behind — it’s cowering in weakness.
And no one is taking better advantage of this than Vladimir Putin, now storming headlong into the yawning chasm of American retreat and reasserting Russia’s global influence and power — just as Mitt Romney said.
Putin remains unchallenged in his invasion of Ukraine, leaving him free to intervene — again unchallenged — in the Middle East.
In Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, Obama’s outreach to the Muslim world hasn’t ended the threat of terrorism. On the contrary, it has seen the rise of “JV team” ISIS and new power for the Taliban. Israelis and Palestinians remain as far apart as ever — because only Israel has been targeted to make concessions.
This president accuses his political foes of wanting to wage war as their first option and warns of the limits of unilateral military power.
But in his eagerness to leave office as the president who ended America’s wars, he refuses to consider any use (or even a credible threat) of US force — even when hundreds of thousands are being massacred in Syria, many by the chemical weapons he claimed to eliminate.
His premature abandonment, against all military advice, of Iraq and Afghanistan (where the pullout is still under way) has left both countries worse off. Iraq, in particular, is bleeding far more than it did even in the worst years of “George Bush’s war.”
Equally eager to open America’s arms to longtime adversaries, this president has begun new relationships with Iran (all but giving Tehran a direct path to a nuclear arsenal) and Cuba without any concessions in return — even on such basic issues as human rights.
It’s no accident Obama has twice spoken in Berlin — at the very spot where Ronald Reagan famously demanded Mikhail Gorbachev “tear down this wall.” Two years later, the Berlin Wall came down. Two years after that, the Soviet bloc collapsed, ending the Cold War.
Obama chose Berlin as the place to call on all nations to join him in “tearing down the walls” to “remake the world.” But his soaring rhetoric was followed by indecision, hesitation and outright appeasement.
America’s allies are calling, Mr. President. They want Ronald Reagan’s assertive foreign policy of the 1980s back.
They want an America that leads — not retreats.

Blog: Kevin McCarthy and the English language

he candidate for Speaker cannot speak clearly? Boy, Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show would sure be able to get a lot of material out of him.

http://www.americanthinker.com/assets/images/at-painter-og-image.png

When Kevin McCarthy cited the creation of the Benghazi committee as an example of House Republican political aggressiveness, his colleagues were alarmed.  But the astonishing incoherence of his subsequent attempt to explain himself in an interview with Bret Baier should have alarmed them even more.
McCarthy could scarcely utter a sentence without mangling the English language.  Here is a choice example: “I did not intend to imply in any way that that work is political[.] ... Look at the way they have carried themselves out.”
They carried themselves out?  That would be rather difficult.  He is jumbling two different idioms: “they carried out their duties” and “they comported themselves.”  An occasional stumble into a mixed metaphor can be forgiven, but McCarthy’s interview was a steady stream of ill-formed language.  Take this: “Let’s find the truth, whatever that takes us.”  (He means “wherever.”)  Or this: “When it happened within the truth, they have been applauded by all sides of the aisle.”  This is sheer gobbledygook, but the one thing that is clear about it is the mixing up of two ideas: “both sides of the aisle” (there are only two) and “on all sides.”  Or try this: “Sometimes the truth comes out in other manners.”  It was never clear what this referred to.
Often he descended into complete incoherence.  For example: “I was saying some truth came out of this committee, is where you found the server, where you went forward, you can always improve.”
McCarthy seemed unable to make it clear what he was trying to explain or apologize for.  He kept repeating the phrase “it was never my intent,” but that only made the listener ask, “Intent to do what, exactly?”  But when finally McCarthy supplied a phrase to amplify “intent,” all we got was “it was never my intention to imply anything”...which doesn’t get us any farther forward.  It was hard to figure out what he was apologizing for.  And when he tried again, we were still no wiser: “It was never my intention, it wasn’t what I in my mind was saying out there.”

What he needed to say was very simple.  Try this: “I was speaking not about the fundamental purpose of the committee, but only about how one thing it happened to find (the home-brew server) had a devastating impact on the Clinton campaign.”
There, that wasn’t so hard, was it?  McCarthy has a staff, he’s been in politics a long time, he’s majority leader, he wants to be speaker – and he can’t figure out how to say something as simple as this?
But we don’t get a realistic perspective on this incident until we understand that McCarthy has been speaking this way for a long time, and that his House colleagues have always known that.  In Saturday’s Wall Street Journal, Peggy Noonan questioned whether, in light of what he said about the Benghazi committee, McCarthy really has the brains to be speaker.  Right enough.  But it’s also hard to avoid wondering about the brains of the congressional Republicans who elected him majority leader, and who were about to elect him speaker.  This incident may mean that McCarthy will not be speaker, but it will still leave in place all the congressmen who, knowing from long experience exactly what he was capable of, saw no problem in his being the speaker.  We may get relief from the one problem, but what about the other?

End of ISIS? Putin 'sending 150,000 soldiers to Syria to WIPE OUT evil Islamic State'

http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/78/590x/Vladimir-Putin-Islamic-State-troops-609757.jpg

VLADIMIR Putin is preparing to send 150,000 troops to Syria in a bid to wipe out the evil Islamic State once and for all.

The Russian leader is reportedly mounting an enormous military mission to take control of the terror group's stronghold of Raqqa.
The city is the self-declared capital of ISIS in Syria and is patrolled by as many as 5,000 jihadi members.
Putin is set to mobilise 150,000 reservists who he conscripted into the military earlier this week.
ISIS could now face elimination from hundreds of thousands of Russian troops
An insider revealed: "It is very clear that Russia wants to sweep up the west of the country, taking Raqqa and all the oil and gas resources around Palmyra.
"This is fast becoming a race to Raqqa – to secure the oil fields they need to cleanse the region of insurgents, and the IS capital is vital to do that."
It comes a day after Russian jets obliterated nine ISIS outposts in just 24 hours using bunker-busting bombs.

Homeless man in Anchorage uses homemade spear to kill bear

http://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/tenant/amp/entityid/AAf3BDh.img

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A homeless man fashioned a machete-like blade to a groomed tree branch and speared a hungry black bear cub that was sniffing for food Friday morning at an illegal camp site in Anchorage.
The cub, estimated to be about a year and a half old, and an older bear thought to be its mother had been at the camp site for days stealing food, authorities said.
On Friday morning, the cub was seen outside a tent. David Tandler, 49, told officers he was worried it would harm children inside the tent, Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen said in an email to The Associated Press. No children were present at the camp site when troopers arrived.
Tandler picked up the spear, which he had earlier prepared for protection by attaching the long knife blade to the branch, said Dave Battle, the Anchorage-area biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
Battle said Tandler threw the spear at the cub, hitting it in the side. The bear ran for about 20 yards before collapsing and dying.
"It's the first time I've run across the spearing of a bear," Battle said.
Authorities determined the bear kill was legal under the state's defense of life and property law.
Tandler was issued a $310 citation for negligent feeding of wildlife because food and garbage was present at the illegal camp site and that is what attracted the bears. The camp was already under orders to be dismantled when the incident happened. Those living in camps have several days to clear their belongings before officials step in and do it.
The sow had climbed a tree while authorities were investigating. It eventually came down, but circled the camp site and started to eat some food at the camp. Troopers fired a rubber bullet, scaring the sow off.
The people in the camp were evacuated for their own safety.
"The sow will continue to come in," Battle said. "For one thing, it lost a cub there, and it found a smorgasbord there."

Iran troops to join Syria war, Russia bombs group trained by CIA

By Leila Bassam and Andrew Osborn BEIRUT/MOSCOW (Reuters) - BEIRUT/MOSCOW (Reuters) - Hundreds of Iranian troops have arrived in Syria to join a major ground offensive on behalf of President Bashar al-Assad's government, sources said on Thursday, a further sign of the rapid internationalization of a civil war in which every major country in the region has a stake.
Russian warplanes bombed a camp run by rebels trained by the CIA, the group's commander said, putting Moscow and Washington on opposing sides in a Middle East conflict for the first time since the Cold War.
The U.S. and Russian militaries will hold talks at 11 a.m. EDT via video link to seek ways to keep their militaries apart as they wage parallel campaigns of air strikes in Syria, a U.S. defense official said.
Russian jets struck targets near the cities of Hama and Homs in western Syria on the second day of their surprise air campaign, which they launched on Wednesday.
Moscow said it had hit Islamic State positions, but the area where it struck is held by a rival insurgent alliance, which unlike Islamic State is supported by U.S. allies including Arab states and Turkey.
Hassan Haj Ali, head of the Liwa Suqour al-Jabal rebel group, told Reuters one of the targets was his group's base in Idlib province, struck by around 20 missiles in two separate sorties. His fighters had been trained by the CIA in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, part of a program Washington says is aimed at supporting groups that oppose both Islamic State and Assad.
"Russia is challenging everyone and saying there is no alternative to Bashar," Haj Ali said. He said the Russian jets had been identified by members of his group who once served as Syrian air force pilots.

Debt Limit Coming Sooner Than Thought: Nov. 5

The Federal government goes broke next month.

http://blogs.rollcall.com/white-house/wp-content/uploads/sites/16/2015/10/armed_senate034_072915-445x296.jpg

The Obama administration says the government will run out of cash by nov. 5, not mid-December.
The Treasury Department said Thursday it would reach the debt limit a bit earlier than was expected by many on Capitol Hill.
Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew told Congress in a new letter that thanks in part to lower-than-expected quarterly tax receipts, the extraordinary measures to forestall breaching the debt limit, combined with the new revenues, will run their course just a week after the resignation of Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, takes effect.
That makes it all the more likely the debt limit will need to be addressed before his departure.
“Based on this new information, we now estimate that Treasury is likely to exhaust its extraordinary measures on or about Thursday, November 5,” Lew wrote in a letter to Boehner. “At that point, we could be left to fund the government with only the cash we have on hand, which we currently forecast to be below $30 billion. This amount would be far short of net expenditures on certain days, which can be as high as $60 billion.”
Lew said the date could still fluctuate somewhat from Nov. 5, but the letter makes clear that the situation is more urgent than anticipated by lawmakers and staffers who expected to be able to bundle a debt limit increase with an early-December spending package.
“Without sufficient cash, it would be impossible for the United States of America to meet all of its obligations for the first time in our history,” Lew wrote.

Ben Carson on the Media: ‘If the Nation Goes Off the Cliff, They’re Going Off with It’

Political Correctness is actually Cultural Marxism. The intent is to change the culture such that people will accept Marxist Socialism (Communism) and Secular Humanism (Atheism) and reject Capitalism and Christianity. The Marxist believe that Christianity supports Capitalism and Capitalism is nothing but evil, so belief in Christianity must go too!

http://cdn1.pjmedia.com/user-content/1/files/2015/05/Screen-Shot-2015-05-04-at-7.40.42-PM.png

'Political correctness is ruining our country and we need to stand up for what we actually believe.'

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson encouraged members of the media to stand “on the side of the people,” saying if the nation goes off the fiscal cliff, reporters are going along with it.
“I am just so tickled with the media. I mean, these guys, they just don’t get it and the interesting thing is the media is the only business in America protected by the United States Constitution. And there was a reason that they were protected; it was because they were supposed to be on the side of the people,” Carson said at the Values Voter Summit in Washington.
“They weren’t supposed to pick and choose which side they were on because that distorts the entire system. And we should hope and pray that one day they come to understand that if the nation goes off the cliff they’re going off with it. Maybe they will wake up and begin to understand what is going on,” he added.
The retired neurosurgeon explained that the media twisted his answer to a question about whether or not he would support a Muslim for president.
Carson said he recently went back and forth with an unnamed commentator who told him, “But you said that someone who was of Islamic faith and a Muslim could not be president of the United States.”
In response, Carson told the commentator to re-read the transcript of the full interview.
“I said anybody of any faith of any belief system who comes to America, becomes an American citizen, embraces our American values and principles, and is willing to subjugate their beliefs to our Constitution is somebody I have no problem with,” Carson said. “Anybody that doesn’t fit in that category, I don’t care who they are, they can be a Christian, if they don’t fit in that category I’m not going to advocate they be president of the United States. It’s as simple as that.”
Carson emphasized that his position in “no way precludes them from running.”
“The last I checked we all had the right to decide who we wanted to advocate for. We don’t have to in any way say that you must say this or you must say that, you know, political correctness is ruining our country and we need to stand up for what we actually believe. It’s ridiculous,” he said.
Carson argued that the media does not want to talk about “real issues” like the nation’s fiscal irresponsibility.
“As a pediatric neurosurgeon I spent my entire career working on the welfare of children; I cannot sit by and watch us ruining their future,” Carson said.
He specifically mentioned America’s $18 trillion national debt.
“What a ridiculous amount of money,” he said. “To pay that back at a rate of $10 million a day, 365 days a year, it would take you over 5,000 years – and that’s what we’re putting on the backs of our young people.”
GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee positioned himself as the best candidate to take on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

ROSEBURG, Ore. (TheBlaze/AP) – A federal agency says the gunman who killed nine people at an Oregon community college had body armor and was armed with five pistols, one rifle and five additional magazines. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives provided the information late...
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives provided the information late Thursday in an incident report obtained by The Associated Press.
The guns included a 9mm Glock pistol and .40-caliber Smith & Wesson, both traced to the suspect. He also had a .40-caliber Taurus pistol traced to someone in Portland and a .556-caliber Del-Ton. The make of the fifth pistol was not immediately clear. The ATF did not return a request for comment before this article was published.
ATF agent Celinez Nunez said during a news conference on Friday that seven other weapons were recovered from the gunman’s home, including two pistols, four rifles and one shotgun.
Each of the 13 firearms the gunman was in possession of were purchased legally, according to federal authorities.
The shooting Thursday at Umpqua Community College also wounded seven. Officials identified the killer as Chris Harper Mercer. He died after a shootout with police.
He isn’t believed to have a criminal history. Investigators believe he may have been a student there because a receipt found at the scene showed he purchased textbooks from the campus bookstore two days before the shooting.
