They Say They're For "Common Sense Gun Control," But What Do They Really Advocate?

http://cdn.bearingarms.com/uploads/2014/07/china.pnghttp://cdn.bearingarms.com/uploads/2013/10/1377385_10151769483221429_1273734679_n.jpg

A logical American citizen accepts that the cost we pay in 10,000 murder with firearms each year is a small price to pay to avoid purges, pogroms, death marches, mass starvations, mass executions, genocides and death camps that haunt so many other nations, even on our own continent, over the past 100 years.
It is not perfect, but the 2nd Amendment is our best insurance against mass murder by the federal government against the American citizenry.
Be very suspicious of those claiming that they want “common sense” gun control, or that we need gun control to benefit “public safety.”
Such arguments only serve governments that serve themselves, and ensure that tyrants can do whatever they desire to the citizenry, without repercussions.
You think it can’t happen here?
Larry Grathwohl infiltrated the Weather Underground, a radical communist domestic terrorist group, in the 1970s. They discussed a need for concentration camps here in the United States for those who refused to accept their views.
They estimated they’d need to murder 25 million Americans in their purge.
The leaders of that terrorist group are still alive today. Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn are rather infamous for being the mentors of a young Chicago politician and community organizer that they worked with and knew well. That young politician started his political campaign with a fundraiser in their home.
That community organizer, Barack Obama, is now President of the United States.
I have no interest in visiting the sorts of camps that his mentors envisioned.
I’ll be keeping my guns.

The 8 Dumbest Celebrity Gun Control Quotes You'll Ever Read

http://cdn.bearingarms.com/uploads/2015/09/pablo-7-copy.png

There are so many hypocritical, idiotic quotes out there that we had a tough time narrowing down our list to just eight, but these are easily some of the dumbest anti-gun quotes you'll ever read:

GUN WATCH: Umpqua Shooting: More Blood on Media Hands

The media is promoting hate of Christians! This is the result.

http://i.imgur.com/kiJfX6e.jpg

The media knows that the more attention they pay to mass killing perpetrators, the more incentive they create for more mass killings.  The effect is known as the "Copycat Effect".  It is a well known and researched phenomena.  Endless promotion of these tragic events and the publicity given to the perpetrators is far more of a causal factor than the Second Amendment.

CBS news relates the latest evidence that media coverage of his name and face was one of the primary motivations for the Umpqua shooter.   From cbsnews.com:
In one post on the blog about Vester Flanagan, the man who killed the reporter and cameraman in Virginia, Mercer apparently wrote, "I have noticed that so many people like [Flanagan] are alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are. A man who was known by no one, is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems like the more people you kill, the more you're in the limelight."
Over 20 years ago,  Clayton Cramer wrote a paper on the ethical problems of promoting mass killings in the media.   It was published in a the Journal of Mass Media Ethics, 9:1 [Winter 1993-94].  It won First Place, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Ethics Prize, 1993, Undergraduate Division.

Loren Coleman wrote a book, The Copycat Effect, in 2004.  The book details simple strategies for reducing media incentives for mass killings.

(1) The media must be more aware of the power of their words. Using language like "successful" sniper attacks, suicides, and bridge jumpers, and "failed" murder-suicides, for example, clearly suggest to viewers and readers that someone should keep trying again until they "succeed." We may wish to "succeed" in relationships, sports, and jobs, but we do not want rampage or serial killers, architects of murder-suicide, and suicide bombers to make further attempts after "failing." Words are important. Even the use of "suicide" or "rampage" in headlines, news alerts, and breaking bulletins should be reconsidered.

(2) The media must drop their clichéd stories about the "nice boy next door" or the "lone nut." The copycat violent individual is neither mysterious nor healthy, or usually an overachiever. They are often a fatal combination of despondency, depression, and mental illness. School shooters are suicidal youth that slipped through the cracks, but it is a complex issue, nevertheless. People are not simple. The formulaic stories are too often too simplistic.

(3) The media must cease its graphic and sensationalized wall-to-wall commentary and coverage of violent acts and the details of the actual methods and places where they occur. Photographs of murder victims, tapes of people jumping off bridges, and live shots of things like car chases ending in deadly crashes, for example, merely glamorize these deaths, and create models for others down to the method, the place, the timing, and the type of individual involved. Even fictional entertainment, such as the screening of The Deer Hunter, provides vivid copycatting stimuli for vulnerable, unstable, angry, and depressed individuals.

(4) The media should show more details about the grief of the survivors and victims (without glorifying the death), highlight the alternatives to the violent acts, and mention the relevant background traits that may have brought this event to this deathly end. They should also avoid setting up the incident as a logical or reasonable way to solve a problem.

(5) The media must avoid ethnic, racial, religious, and cultural stereotypes in portraying the victims or the perpetrators. Why set up situations that like-minded individuals (e.g. neo-Nazis) can use as a roadmap for a future rampages against similar victims?

(6) The media should never publish a report on suicide or murder-suicide without adding the protective factors, such as the contact information for hot lines, help lines, soft lines, and other available community resources, including email addresses, websites, and phone numbers. To run a story on suicide or a gangland murder without thinking about the damage the story can do is simply not responsible. It¹s like giving a child a loaded gun. The media should try to balance such stories with some concern and consideration for those who may use it to imitate the act described.

(7) And finally, the media should reflect more on their role in creating our increasingly violent society. Honest reporting on the positive nature of being alive in the twenty-first century might actually decrease the negative outcomes of the copycat effect, and create a wave of self-awareness that this life is rather good after all. Most of our lives are mundane, safe, and uneventful. This is something that an alien watching television news from outer space, as they say, would never know. The media should "get real," and try to use their influence and the copycat effect to spread a little peace, rather than mayhem.
David Kopel, in an article published in the Wall Street Journal, wrote about the copycat effect and Coleman's book in December of 2012.

The media cynically benefits from coverage of these events.  The media benefit from ratings and from politicization of the event.  The old media use these events to further their agenda to impose severe restrictions on gun ownership and use.  The restrictions called for often have no relationship to the mass killings committed.

After the Sandy Hook shootings, where the shooter murdered his own mother to obtain the weapons used, the call was for "universal background checks" (UBC), a code for collecting data for universal gun registration.   UBC legislation which would have preserved the privacy of gun buyers, was defeated by those who claimed to want UBCs.  The proponents insisted that serial numbers and weapon types and models be recorded.  The only reason to do so would be to promote a later registration system.

Such systems are already being used for piecemeal gun confiscations in California and New York.

The media's reward of mass killers with copious air time and celebrity status is exacerbated by the Obama administration's desire to use these events for political gain.  Even before any details are known about the shooters, their motivations, or whether legislation would have had any effect on them, President Obama is on the air, calling for more laws restricting gun ownership. Such showmanship encourages mass killers; they know that they will be receiving national attention for an extended period.

The media and the Obama administration has blood on their hands.  After 20 years of publicity, they know the copycat effect.  They know that there are simple measures that would minimize it, and which would not significantly effect First Amendment rights.

Saving lives takes second place to their political agenda and their profits.

Japan not taking in refugees; says it must look after its citizens first

He also said japan is done apologizing for what happened in World War II. Is Japan the only western democracy that understands it must look out for it own citizens’ well-being first and foremost?

Japan's prime minister said Tuesday that his nation needs to attend to its own demographic challenges posed by falling birth rates and an aging population before opening its doors to refugees.
"I would say that before accepting immigrants or refugees we need to have more activities by women, by elderly people and we must raise (the) birth rate. There are many things that we should do before accepting immigrants"

Can Jeb Bush be nominated while supporting amnesty and Muslim immigrants?

It's true that Bush is the 100-million-dollar man.  But no amount of money is going to sell political poison – amnesty, Common Core, and now importing more immigrants from the Middle East.  Ross Perot had a lot of money, too, for all the good that did him.
What do you think?  Can Bush still win the nomination, despite his Uncommon Core positions?

Earlier today we reported that Mark Levin had high praise for Ted Cruz on his radio show yesterday. 'The Great One,' as he's nicknamed, said Ted is by far 'the most consistently conservative candidate running.' He then blasted Mitch McConnell and Cruz's rival for the Republican nomination, Rand Paul, for working against the senator from Texas.Levin isn't the only popular conservative radio talker who sang Cruz's praises yesterday: Rush Limbaugh did the same. Powell: 'I Want to Continue to Be a Republican Because It Annoys Them'

Wow! The General is a real team player, isn’t he? Would he have put up with a soldier who had that kind of attitude? He doesn’t really like the people who make up the base of the Republican Party, does he? With people like this leading the GOP no wonder the Republicans can’t get anything done. The RINOs leading the party are happy just being the Democrats prison bitch, aren’t they?

http://cdn1.pjmedia.com/tatler/user-content/31/files/2015/10/ColinPowell.jpg

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who endorsed President Obama in 2008 and 2012, told the Washington Ideas Forum that there’s a special reason why he doesn’t change his party affiliation.
Powell confirmed that he’s still a registered Republican. “I want to continue to be a Republican because it annoys them,” he quipped.
“I think the party has shifted much further right than where the country is and it should be obvious to party leaders that they cannot keep saying and doing the things that they were doing and hope to be successful in national-level election in the future, not just in 2016,” he added.
Powell cited “pockets of intolerance” within the Republican Party that the GOP “had better figure out how to defeat.”
He also said that immigration rhetoric within the party is an Achilles’ heel.
“I think most Republicans understand that we need immigration, we are an immigrant nation, it is in our best interest to do it,” he said.
“…If I was around Mr. Trump — Donald, who I know rather well — I would say, ‘You know, Don, let’s see what happens — let’s tell all the immigrants working in Trump hotels to stay home tomorrow. Let’s see what happens.”

Vladimir Putin drafts 150,000 conscripts into the Russian military

The timing – on the very day Russia began airstrikes against anti-Assad rebels yesterday – will raise suspicions that Putin is planning a wider offensive to prop up the Syrian President.
Vladimir Putin has conscripted 150,000 new troops into the Russian army as the country unleashed a new wave of airstrikes in Syria - while and Iran and Islamist group Hezbollah prepare for a major ground offensive.
Hundreds of Iranian troops have arrived in Syria over the last ten days, backed by the country's Lebanese allies, Hezbollah, and rebel fighters from Iraq and Afghanistan, two Lebanese sources claimed today.
One of the sources said the Iranian ground forces were 'soldiers and officers', not advisers, adding: 'We mean hundreds with equipment and weapons. They will be followed by more.'
They are being supported by Russia's warplanes who bombed camps of rebel fighters trained by the CIA, one of the group's commanders claimed.
The White House branded Russia's airstrikes in Syria 'indiscriminate' and claimed its actions risk prolonging the conflict 'indefinitely'.
The comments were made after the first in a series of discussions between US and Russian leaders aimed at 'de-conflicting' operations in the country.

New Jersey's Web of Injustice - Bearing Arms - Anti-Gun Laws, new jersey, Video

http://cdn.bearingarms.com/uploads/2015/09/mia.jpg

New Jersey just keeps adding to its tally of gun-control victims. The latest: Mia Higginbotham, whose crime was trying to legally transport her legally owned firearm out of the state. She and her husband researched the TSA rules and were following the instructions to the letter of the law. But in the blink of an eye, she found herself arrested — not charged with a federal crime, but charged with a second-degree New Jersey felony. As she fights the case, Higginbotham notes in this exclusive report from Ginny Simone that, “I’m one step below a murderer in the eyes of the New Jersey court.”

Shocking: New U.S. Army Patch Closely Resembles ISIS Logo

It’s no wonder that U.S. Army personnel aren’t exactly thrilled with the new patch. What’s next? A motto in Arabic below it, saying “in Allah we trust”?

A new combat patch worn by U.S. soldiers fighting against ISIS in Iraq is drawing flak from service members because it closely resembles logos of the very same jihadists they're fighting: Soldiers serving in Operation Inherent Resolve have worn the patch since April of this year.

Blog: Valerie Jarrett throws Hillary under the bus

Double-teaming with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, Valerie Jarrett, President Obama’s Supreme Leader, demonstrated what the White House really wants to happen in the race for the Democratic nomination.  Joe Biden most assuredly got the message, as did Hillary.  Blake Seitz of the Free Beacon reports:
White House Chief of Staff Valerie Jarrett admitted Wednesday that the White House had issued guidance to cabinet secretaries recommending they use government email for official business—guidance that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ultimately ignored.
“Weren’t there guidelines from the White House to all cabinet secretaries to use government email?” MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell asked Jarrett at an event sponsored by the Aspen Institute.
“Well, yes there were. Yeah, absolutely,” Jarrett said.
“Obviously, we want to make sure we preserve all government records, so there was guidance given that government business should be done on government emails and that if you did use a private email it should be turned over,” Jarrett said.
Right after inserting the stiletto, Jarret put a little dab of disinfectant not on the wound, but on some skin nearby:
“She’s working hard to comply with making sure everything is pursuant to the Federal Records Act,” Jarrett said.
Translation: she broke the law.
Now is the time for the Hilary camp to let Team Obama know that if they are going to play the game this way, she has a few nuggets of her own to deliver.  There is the question of where Obama was during the Benghazi attack, for instance.
Stay tuned: there is nothing quite like a catfight between the Clinton faction and the Obama faction, for they both play dirty.

'We Cannot Let Everyone Go On Everest And Die'

It’s the world’s highest cemetery.

http://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/tenant/amp/entityid/AAeTlLT.img

The young, old, inexperienced and disabled may soon be banned from climbing Mount Everest. Nepal's tourism officials were weighing enacting new rules ahead of the spring climbing season that would only allow certain people to attempt to scale the world's highest peak, the Guardian reported Monday. Excluded would be people under 18 and over 75, as well as potential climbers with severe disabilities.
“We cannot let everyone go on Everest and die. If they are not physically and mentally fit it will be like a legal suicide,” tourism minister Kripasur Sherpa told the Guardian. “Only those who can go on their own will be given permission.”
About 700 people try to climb Everest, which stands about 29,000 feet tall, every year. Eight people died in 2013, but since 1953 the success rate was about 60 percent, according to mountain climber Alan Arnette's reading of the Himalayan Database. This past year saw Everest's deadliest accident ever in the April earthquake that killed 19 people, most of them sherpa guides, and wounded about 60.

SANFORD - A monkey that escaped its owner's home in an Orlando, Florida, suburb chewed on its neighbors' mail, pulled molding off a police car and rocked back and forth on a street sign.
Zeek was eventually caught when his owner returned home a short time later.

Sanford police officers responded to the neighborhood Monday morning after a neighbor called to report that a monkey was eating mail out of a mailbox.
Zeek jumped on the officers' squad car and pulled some molding off the roof. The monkey also drank from a water bottle the officers offered as a distraction.
Sanford police officers took video of Zeek and posted it on the agency's Facebook page. "Zeek had a little fun with our patrol car," the officers posted in one video.

This Is What a Blue State Looks Like: Rally for Nudity in SF

Why is it that the people who want to get naked in public are always people you don’t want to see naked?

How Bernie Sanders would transform the nation

Bread and Circuses! Free stuff for everybody!

http://img.s-msn.com/tenant/amp/entityid/BBjaVk4.img

In the America that Bernie Sanders wants to create, tuition would be free for every student at every public college.
Which, of course, is another way of saying that the government would pay for it. To do that, the Democratic presidential candidate would spend $750 billion over 10 years, and raise the money with a new tax on Wall Street trades.
And, once government was paying for college, colleges would run by government rules. Sanders’s rules. For one thing, Sanders thinks student centers are a waste of government money. He’d make sure they didn’t get any more of it.
If he becomes president, Sanders would spend an enormous amount of money: $3.27 trillion. At the very, very least. But he is not just a big-spending liberal. And his agenda is not just about money.
.
The biggest pieces of Sanders’s domestic agenda — making college, health care and child care more affordable — seek to capture these industries and convert them to run chiefly on federal money.
Sanders thinks this would consolidate areas now shaped by a confusing mix of federal rules, state laws and the private market, and make these systems cheaper and more efficient.
The risk is that this authority would expand the federal bureaucracy, which has sometimes struggled to make itself run cheaply and efficiently.
Sanders said voters would welcome the change. Even if it means Americans must turn to the federal government to oversee new sectors of their lives. He bristles at the idea that this might be considered an intrusion.
“You’re not ‘turning to’ the government. You’re assuming that the government is some kind of foreign entity,” Sanders said in an interview. “The government, in a democratic society, is the people.”
Bernie Sanders — a senator from Vermont who describes himself as a “democratic socialist” — will never get everything he wants in Washington.
And that still would be true if he became President Sanders. Republicans in the Congress would fight him fiercely. Democrats might not be much help. In fact, Sanders’s most recent Senate bills — legislation that would make college free and provide universal health care — attracted exactly zero Democrats as co-sponsors.
But now, the same ideas that have made Sanders a lonely leftist in the Senate have made him a star on the campaign trail. And he is setting himself up as a champion of liberal ideals while making rival Hillary Rodham Clinton appear cautious by comparison.
After years of debate about how much government to cut, Sanders has succeeded — at least with a piece of the electorate — by promising that he would make it grow substantially.
This assessment of Sanders’s vision is based on an examination of his current and past legislation; his campaign speeches; and interviews with him, his chief policy aide and experts.
“I want you all not to think small. I want you to think big,” Sanders said during a speech in South Carolina in August. “This is the wealthiest country in the history of the world.”
The simplest parts of Sanders’s platform are the parts that are simply very expensive. New money. But pumped through old pipes.
He would allot, for example, an extra $1.2 trillion for Social Security beneficiaries, paid for by higher taxes on people earning more than $250,000. He also would create a new Social Security benefit: paying for Americans of any age to take 12 weeks off to care for a new baby or deal with a serious illness. The funding for that would be new taxes on wage-earners and businesses, raising $319 billion.
Clinton also has called for family leave, but her staff declined to say how she would pay for it.
In Sanders’s more ambitious plans, however, the mechanism is different.
To provide a benefit, the government doesn’t write checks. It takes an existing industry with many paying customers, and reshapes it so there is one major customer: the government. And, analysts say, the bureaucracy would then be tasked with making sure the government’s money is spent according to the government's wishes.
“Now it looks like the federal government is funding schools directly. And if it is funding the schools directly, then it seems much more clear that the federal government should be writing all the regulations,” Neal McCluskey of the libertarian Cato Institute said about Sanders’s college plan.
Sanders’s plan for free tuition would not apply to private colleges. They would still charge students, and their students could still apply for traditional federal scholarships.
Public schools, too, could opt out of the free-tuition model to avoid the government’s rules. In theory. Good luck with recruiting.
“Free,” McCluskey said, is “very hard to defeat with something that’s not free.”
In his speeches, Sanders focuses on the potential benefits of this big idea. Low-income students could find college doors opened to them. All students could graduate without debt.
The downside, left unstated, would be that all colleges might start to look alike. And that a huge industry would spend its time waiting on bureaucrats, and trying to game their rules.
Take, for instance, that rule against spending money on “non-academic” buildings.
It’s probably not that simple.
“That one line: Absolutely, somebody’s gonna have to write a rule about what an ‘academic’ purpose is,” said Gerald Friedman, a professor at the University of Massachusetts who has studied Sanders’s ideas and mostly agrees with them. After the rule is written, Friedman said, will come the special cases, nitpicks and loopholes. What if there’s a chemistry lab in the football stadium’s basement? What if the student center is 50 percent classrooms? Forty percent? “Then you’re gonna have to litigate the rules, because colleges aren’t going to like it,” he said.
The federal education bureaucracy is already not a speedy machine. Recently, the Education Department needed 18 months and 7,000 words in the Federal Register to define the college term “credit hour.”
This part of Sanders’s agenda would be paid for if Congress agreed to his plan to add a small tax to every Wall Street trade. That would be an increase worth $54 billion to $300 billion per year, according to Sanders’s staff.
More broadly, Sanders has proposed more than $3.4 trillion in new taxes, most of them targeting the rich or large companies. But right now, it seems that even this enormous tax increase would not pay for Sanders’s full vision.
That’s because Sanders has not provided details about two of his most ambitious ideas — revamping the health-care and child-care systems. He hasn’t said exactly what he would do to improve these areas or how he would pay for the changes.
“The point is, we haven’t finished the proposal yet,” Sanders said, when asked about the details of his health-care plan. A recent report in the Wall Street Journal quoted an estimated that a plan Sanders has supported in the past that would cost $15 trillion over 10 years. Sanders said that missed the point. “Even assuming that it were $15 trillion over 10 years . . . [Americans] would no longer be paying private health insurance” at the same time, so they’d be saving money that way, Sanders said.
Sanders said he wants to model his plan on Medicare, the popular federal health-insurance program for seniors. He has proposed similar, very detailed plans to expand Medicare into a national health-care program in the past. But, in this election, he has made a point of saying that those old plans are not his official campaign proposal. He’s still working on the official one.
Left undecided: Exactly how would it hold down costs, with so many new enrollees? How would it deal with unhappy customers, in a system in which Congress would be both the funder and the national complaint department?
“Nobody likes whoever pays. Whoever controls the money, people hate,” said John McDonough, a professor at Harvard University’s school of public health, describing the new role the government would take on. “If the government is the source of all health-care financing, the government then becomes the source of all dissatisfaction.”
On child-care reform, Sanders hasn’t decided what it would cost.
Or how it would be regulated.
But he is certain that the government would become the major funder for the industry. That means child care for every American who wants it. And rules to make sure the money is well spent.
“The goal is to make it universal,” said Warren Gunnels, Sanders’s policy director. “Just like you make health care universal. Just like you make public colleges and universities tuition-free.”
